So what are crying about?

This was my post:

About $15k a year X 3 kids.

It's finally coming to an end but it has been absolutely brutal.

I wasn't crying.

$45k a year is a lot of money for me. It's been tough. Lots of sacrifices. Lots of doing without so my kids could get ahead.

I'm not crying. I'm proud. I'm proud of them for their accomplishments. And I'm proud of myself for making it happen.

I'm not crying about a thing.

Grow up, bitch.

I donate in cash in unmarked envelopes. I always felt it was none of the church's business how much I was giving. It's adequate.

And here I am finding out that won't cut it with catholic school kids. Such BS.

My oldest went to public school and is now a junior at SELU and she turned out ok, but times have changed. I’m not so sure when it comes to my son who’s in the 5th grade. We have a private school less than a mile from us that people from the NorthShore send their kids to and it’s looking like an option for next year. It seems like it’s a couple months of actual learning, and then its all about the Leap Test when it comes to public schools.

Don’t forget the donations you must give in order to get the parishioner rate for the Catholic schools
My kids have all gone to catholic elementary and middle schools and there is no "parishioner rate." My parish has no school but the neighboring one does. If I gave $400 over the course of a year to my parish, I didn't have to pay the $300 or so fee per kid to the school's parish.

A poor person can't be considered a paritioner if everything they have is given to the church but it isn't enough to get over the threshold???
if the priest knows you and are actually involved - you will be ok

Plus, if you can afford tuition, you can pay the stipend the church asks

It’s like $6 bucks a week.

And again, everyone in BR is fine with this arrangement. “Hey not only are you going to pay us a ton to go here, but you’re going to donate and “volunteer” for whatever we tell you. What are ya gonna do send your child to one of Baton Rouge’s fine public schools?”

I was never required to volunteer or donate extra while my kids were in Catholic school in BR

I homeschool them now for different reasons.

$8,500 a year for Catholic HS, boys & girls, capped at 500 students. Worth every dime.

We did public elementary, which was great, excellent Vice Principal & Principal and staff. Public Middle school was an absolute shitshow between Covid and different administrators, staff, and students. It was like sending your child to a gladiatoral academy with the Daily discipline disruptions.

It’s not a coincidence that there’s two dozen+ kids at the school whose parents are public school administrators in the local public school district.

All I’ve got is a pre-schooler.

Currently paying $6k. Looks like the private school we’re going to send her to will be about the same when she gets to K4 and increase to about $7200 by the time she gets to 1st grade.

It's a gateway drug man. PK was less than daycare so it actually saved us money when she started school. It went up every year though and a good bit from elementary to middle etc.

Seems like you could save some money by going to a good enough public school and supplementing any deficiency with a tutor.

For family reasons I live in an area where public schools are not an option. I consider that tuition money a good investment. I would do it again

I don’t even care anymore when the tuition is due. Zero shot my daughter goes to public school in Baton Rouge.
