I understand Private school is better than public, but living in an area/state where your children are essentially forced to attend private if they want to be successful/safe blows my mind. We have good to very good public schools in my area. Some of these prices per year are hard to look at.

$5k is one thing, but $27k for a 2nd grader? That's disgusting

Apparently being a parishioner has nothing about being a member of the faith community or family member in worship. It is all about a four letter word: cash.

I mean that’s pretty shitty if you regularly attend a church and you don’t donate money to said church. Especially if you were married there, kids baptized and go to school there.

You can move to the burbs and commute an hour here just like anywhere else. It's just ingrained in the culture for whatever reason.

Why would he have all that done at a parish where he didn’t want to join?

Time, talent, and treasure - this is what we are supposed to share with our church

The amount is between $300-$500 in NOLA as well

He does donate … just not “enough”. Again, I don’t know what the threshold is. Think they told him how short he was and took out his visa.

What in the flying frick???

See, this is my beef with the catholic church. A poor person can't be considered a paritioner if everything they have is given to the church but it isn't enough to get over the threshold???

My kids are going to go to catholic school, but I won't necessarily like it.

can tell you dont have any kids in college

Kid #1 is a freshman in college.

Kid #2 has already made her 32 and will get the full free ride next year.

And they only live in the dorm one year. Then they use their stipend to pay for an apartment.

And her Coogan account pays for her sorority dues.

So once again you don't know what you're talking about.

Which is typical of the shite you spew on this site.

Don’t know. Guess he assumed you don’t prove your faith and dedication to the Lord with your wallet (in addition to the tuition he was planning to drop)

you don’t, but to your Catholic Church is a different story

Parishioners get preference for admission to the school - how the hell is the office supposed to know you’re a parishioner if you’re not registered?

Why didn’t he go explain the situation to the office? I work in a church office and your friend sounds like an arse.

Being a parishioner is usually a box to check on the applications. And it’s usually explained on the tuition schedules.
