I live in Bay St Louis and it's a perfect golf cart town. We take it everywhere. Friends houses, yacht club, bars, restaurants...pick my kid up from school. We've put a ton of miles on it.

Have one. Basic model Yamaha. Only amenity is the second row, rear-facing seat. Bought it new from the place out east of DS on 190–between Walker and DS and near Juban Rd intersection. Paid in the $3,800 range like 3 years ago. Wife and kids love it.

I see lots of golf carts going about in my neighborhood and I considered getting one but I’m not sure I get the broad appeal. Seems like it would only be useful for use-cases where bikes or cars won’t fit the bill.
Not against getting one but I wonder how long these things are going to be permitted without increased scrutiny, DUI checks, licenses and stuff.
Reason:
Theres little kids driving these things and large 4-wheelers like assholes. Near collisions at stop-signs, driving in people’s yards (get off my lawn, right?), yelling or not having lights on late at night, etc. I’m guessing at some point they are going to screw it up for most of you that are responsible golf cart/ATV owners.

they used to have another place that pimped them out wit custom chrome rims and all sorts of cool modifications but with this economy they shut down. who wants to drop $3k on customizing a golf cart just to tool around the streets with

I bought a used EZGO RXV about 4 years ago from a place in Eunice. I don't remember how much I paid for it, but it came from a nice golf coarse in California. Originally I was going to buy it as is, but there was some miscommunication, and one of the employees added the back seat to it, so I got a deal on it.
Since then I've added lights and lifted it. Had to get new batteries, so switched from 4 12v batteries to 6 8v batteries. The tires will need to be replaced soon, so at that time I'll upgrade the wheels. I'll probably add a radio eventually.

Ask where your local golf club sells their carts. Up here in Tennessee there are at least five small businesses that refurbish them and sell them for a fraction of the original price. We got one for less than $1500 and use it for getting around our property especially when its too wet for the soil to support the weight of a truck.
One set of neighbors had one and traded it in for a Gater because they wanted more power.

I'm selling a 6 passenger one.
Probably 3-4 years old. Just changed the batteries a few months ago.
