Do you misbehave with your fellow coworkers or do you keep it strictly business?

I used to drink with my office but as the years have gone by, I have learned to not mix business and pleasure, unless they're buying.

Is it wrong to go have a few beers with coworkers?

At every opportunity. I would go to strip clubs and stay out until 4am with certain managers and partners when I was a senior staffer. Keeping the tradition alive.

eta: I keep it mostly business with some of my direct reports, namely the females, brand new people, and those I know are pretty straight laced. I'll grab a few beers with dinner with anyone I'm on the road with, though.

Most of the time bad things happen when you get trashed with work colleagues.

Its ok if you are friends outside of work, but getting drunk with strictly colleagues is a no-no.

A few beers is ok, but not much more than that.

I'm sure there's no pleasure in having to interact with you outside of work

I find this is highly industry dependent.

Every chance I get. Life's too freakin short. You gotta break up the routine or you get stale.

ETA: So actually never with the local team. It's better that way.

I was assaulted by a co-workers dog at 6am Friday. She was out for her morning run, I was drunk with a colleague. We were sobering up at a coffee shop.

I spent St Paddys competing against co-workers in shuffleboard. (And competition drinking)

Taco Tuesday with an engineer

Me and what could be considered my boss swap off buying beers for the commute home.

Got in to a bidding war on my current house with a coworker and her fiance.

I may cross the streams from time to time. But, I don't pretend or cover shite up.

Why would I not be friends with the people I spend most of my waking hours with? Seems kinda like a miserable experience if you ask me.

Pretty much my approach. I don't love all my boys (and gals), but I treat them like friends and family.

I will defend any one of them if it comes to it.

I'm a flirt and will hang out with co-workers and subordinates that are laid back. I don't go beyond being sociable, though.

The good news is - There's tons of turnover and lateral movement in my industry so it's very rare that I work with anyone in particular for more than a year or two... so I've usually set myself up nicely for whenever I'm no longer a co-worker with somebody I want to cross the line with down the line.

We goof off. Someone parked in one of our spots last summer and we used marking paint to create a body outline behind the vehicle.

At my last job, I worked with one of my best childhood friends and we kind of turned our department into a circus. Everyone would often hang out on nights and weekends together and I was sleeping with one of the girls for a summer. You begin to learn certain things about people you work with that you'd rather not know.

Nowadays, I'll go out for drinks with my co-workers and I like pretty much everyone, but I've been careful to keep the relationships more professional.

Occasionally have a beer after work. I would not say I'm really friends with anyone I work with.

I also keep a strict no Facebook Friends policy with co-workers. Once they leave I will accept an invite. But I'm not comfortable with being on facebook with the young staff I manage.

Now industry conferences and trade shows? All bets are off.
