Dad- Hard to say. It's probably really close.

Mom- No.

I did for a month or so then my mom got a raise

She's basically a CPA without the credentials. She runs her office and the place would burn without her.

I make more than both of my parents combined ever did in a year, and I'm 4 years into my career.

Talk about working hard to give their children an opportunity to succeed. That's my folks

My mom is an RN that retired at 35 and I will pass her by the time I am 30. I will probably never make more than my dad has in his best year and I am ok with that

Right now? Probably.

My dad is a retired fireman and he shut down his carpentry business.

My mom has never had a job.

They seem to be enjoying their retired life just fine though. Finishing up the pool house this winter.

Yes, but they were both teachers and my dad also coached football, so it wasn't really that hard.

My mom, bless her bleeding heart, was a middle school teacher before retiring. So yeah, I make more than she did.

My dad on the other hand... it'll take a little while.

ETA: Make about the same as my stepmom and not even close to my stepdad.

There was a point where I made (with bonuses), more than both combined. But that's not difficult. My dad was a teacher and I have an engineering degree in the oilfield. He's since retired and is now working for a hospital plus collecting his retirement. I may make more than him (not exactly sure now), but not by much.

No. Not far behind my father though. My fiancé and I combined probably give my parents combined a close run though.

Not picking on you-but what exactly is the problem? That someone working for the state made 90, or that someone who worked 36 years earns a pension?

By household income, yes. But NYc is nearly twice as expensive as NOLA... so

If comparing when they were my age, probably 3-4 times more. Currently, they probably have a slight edge on me.
