My dad would let me win at BB when I was a kid. I really thought I was kicking his arse too. I talked a little too much trash one day and he blew me up. First shot I took was Mutumboed right back in my face. I don't think I scored a point. I learned more from that beat down than every game before.

He doesn't like playing defense at times and Ill just take my shot and sink it and beat him. I just tell him you will never get ahead with that lazy arse attitude. Gotta go out there and take what you want.
When kids hit 15-16 I didn't have to worry about it, they could all beat my arse in any sport.

When I have a kid, I will give them some sort of handicap but I refuse to lose on purpose. I will also take participation trophies and light them on fire.

Do you let your kids "win" at games/sports/etc?
Call me heartless but I don't let them win.
No.
True story. I must have been 8 or so and my dad was dating this woman a year or so after my mom died and she was out our house. I used to like to play chess with him, but he'd beat my arse easily. She felt the need to tell him he should let me win once, and we both got pissed at her. I told her I would never want that because there would have been no point in playing if I won and he let me...and he just smiled and nodded.
Years later as a teenager when I finally beat him playing pick-up basketball was a great feeling I'd earned, and we both knew it.
I'd never cheat my sons out of that. Has nothing to do with MY pride, but with them earning theirs.
