Do You Know Anyone Who Will Take Something From Somewhere Just To Keep It?

The apple thread made me think about this. Some people will hold onto things for a long time (possibly ever).. Hoarders. But there are also people who will take things, they don't really need, just to store it away for whatever reason.
I know this man (he lives by a family member's house) who has this pretty big shop/storage area in his backyard. He lives on 5 or 6 acres of land and I would say the building might be 4000 - 5000 sq ft. Inside it is filled from top to bottom with random shite. Evidently, if he is riding through town and he sees someone throwing away a chair that is in decent condition, he will pick it up and throw it in his shop.
He is involved in one of the local mardi gras balls and every year, when the ball is over and they are tearing down the set, there are wood scraps, small metal scrapes, etc and he will collect a bunch of it. He has parts props from the balls in there. shite that he will never use, but when he takes things or tells someone what he picked up, he always says "you never know when you will need it". So it's like he collects whatever he can because, in his mind, it is something that one day, he might need.
I am not sure if that is a hoarder.. Well, I guess it is, but he is sort of an "organized hoarder", but I think that's just because of his wife. If it wasn't for her, he would probably end up having shite piled up inside and outside the house. Anyone know someone like this? Who just collects random shite? Is this some type of mental disorder?

Cliff notes for those who don’t want to read
OweO is a hoarder

This thread is quintessentially you. Mostly nonsensical, wordy, and vague title followed by a rambling and pointless story that never goes anywhere, that I am currently refusing to read because I know what waits at the end of it. No offense, Chris.

This makes a lot of fricking sense. You didn't read it, yet you say it's made up..

I am serious, those dudes would probably have a field day in there. They would have to dig through piles of worthless shite to find something that's probably worth anything, but they would probably need two days to go through it all.

Beat me to it. I was about to say, watch American Picker. Some of the guys they deal with are just reluctant to part with ANYTHING.

When I was little, after storms my grandpa would take me out on the boat in Barataria Bay and we'd pick up random shite we'd find on the little islands and marshes. Usually it'd be crap but every now and then we'd find a life jacket or something halfway useful. Some here might call that trashy but he called it treasure hunting and as a kid I had a lot of fun. Looking back I realize it was more about spending time together more than anything else.

Can you just start making the title of your threads “I want to tel a story” or something. Clearly you made this thread just to tell some obscure story with little relevance. Is it an attention thing?

Can you just ignore my threads if you have a problem with them instead of trying to fit in, by hatin in me?
