I liked to the podcast called Scammers and its unbelievable how some people easily fall for scams.

How does someone meet someone online, communicate with them online for months maybe even years without talking to them on the phone, meeting them in person, etc.. And agree to send them money?

BTW I do not know anyone who has been scammed by someone they met online.

They say yes, I will send you money.

Pretty simple concept really.

Yeah, but what in their brain tells them that it is a smart decision?

My wifes mother (80 yrs old) thinks these people are her friends.

Weve tried to talk sense to her but she does it anyways...she will tell us she will never do it again but always does.

It's sad these people victimize senior citizens....and we can't do anything about it until she is so senile the doctor can claim her mentally incompetent.

A friend's Dad, who was a pilot for American Airlines for over 20 years before retiring, is now penniless due to giving online scammers money multiple times. No one in the family understands his lack of intelligence when it comes to scammers since he is an otherwise intelligent person.

Upvote enroute, OweO.

This topic is the OT version of a public service announcement or cautionary tale.

Thanks for this.

I don't know what you mean by "crawfished on it" and secondly, as far as I'm concerned OweO is immune to any and all ban bets.

This board is blessed to have him. Show some goddamn respect.

Mother in law. Her husband died and she met someone on Facebook that sweet talked her arse and made her feel wanted. He sent fake pictures and said he was on an oil rig in the ocean somewhere and needed money for repairs so he could come see her. She sent thousands. Took out loans and everything. Dumb as hell.

Knew someone in the early "Nigerian prince"(?) era. It didn't turn out good at all.
