I knew two. Both died in car accidents.

Professional racing drivers wouldn't dream of driving without safety belts, and they are infinitely more skilled than anyone on this board.

If I put groceries and other stuff in my passenger seat, the car will think somebody's sitting in the seat with the belt unbuckled and the chime will go off.

Sometimes you die even with them on (see Av pic), but everyone knows your odds are infinitely better with them on.

I am not sure if my brother wears one or not. I know he would not wear one for a long time.
He was in a car wreck, the drive turn in front of a car coming the opposite direction. So the car hit his side. The way the car was damage and a piece of metal from the other car went through the door and into to the seat. If he were wearing a seat belt at the time he would have been impaled.

I don't wear them because I don't like wearing them. Have always disabled the sensor that tells if it's plugged in or not

I've always viewed not wearing seat belts the same as cigarettes
If you do it you know the serious risks and warnings but I don't think it should be illegal or ticketable. The only person you're hurting in the end is yourself.

People who don't wear them are fricking idiots. Plain and simple

Simply not true

been so long since that was an issue
can't think of one today
dad was original cheerleader for the use of them 50's-60's
I'd still wear one even if the revenue officers didn't write tickets

Absolutely, but you take every edge you can get.

My FIL refuses to wear one. He's anti-government so the mere idea of legislation telling him what to do irritates him.
Genius logic

Yes. A former coworker. I think he is still alive. Hadn't seen him in a couple of years and his name hasn't shown up in the obits.

I know a guy that is a major in a police dept and he referees. He will buckle it before he gets in car so it won't beep.

Good. Whenever you see me in the hospital, make sure to take extra special care of my inner thighs

Intentionally not wearing a seatbelt may be the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
My parents were so strict about it when I was growing up that I can't even start the car without putting on my seatbelt these days. If I'm moving my car to rearrange it in a driveway I always get people making fun of me cause I buckle up first haha.

Perhaps it didn't occur to you that the rest of us are forced to watch our health insurance rates skyrocket to pay the medical bills of someone who was ejected from a vehicle and maimed, and then at the same time our taxes are also hiked to pay their disability for the rest of their life.
