I recently discovered a guy I went to HS with is a legit flat earth guy

Apparently the movement is religious based

I can't believe this guy actually bought into it. He didn't seem to be that stupid when I knew him.

There is no such thing. They are people who’ve latched onto a joke and never ever let up. There are no people who legitimately believe the earth is flat, they just want to get a rise out of you by claiming something they know is outrageous.

Well I'm not friends with the guy anymore

Can't say I hate the guy or anything but I choose not to hang out with him since he's obviously crazy now

It’s been a troll for years. It’s just gone mainstream.

Yes. My bosses brother. He believes there's a dome over the flat earth, space doesn't even exist (the sun, moon, and stars are all within the dome and much smaller than we are led to believe), the Antarctic ice wall, all that shite.

Yup, they tie it all back to Spanish Inquisition and believe the Jesuits are controlling everything including the education system to trick us.

He points a lot of it back to the Old Testament, fallen angels and the nephilim, etc. He believes there are also ancient petrified giants that the Jesuits are trying to (and apparently are very slowly succeeding at). He also believes that certain minerals and jewels come from these petrified giants bc supposedly there's some Old Testament verse or something talking about giants with minerals in their veins or some shite. Meaning he believes that a vein of gold is the literal vein of a petrified giant.

ETA:

Don't get me, I love a good weird conspiracy theory, but this shite is ridiculous even to me. When you start talking about "Space is fake" I'm gonna have to call BS, because alien conspiracies are my bread and butter.

Not for this guy. He's very far removed from any religion, other than maybe some new agey self worship.

You were right on until you said space and the moon in particular, were anything other than a giant light show produced by the u.s and russia.
