Most of mine are locked in a safe but my kids have the combination.
My wifes Judge is at her bedside. I don't sneak up on her.

Absolutely it does. Both a firearm and a fire extinguisher are tools used for potentially catastrophic, albeit rare, home emergencies.
Now, if you wanted to differentiate that between the two items ownership of only one of them is constitutionally protected; then you might be on to something. But, somehow, I'm guessing that's not what you were aiming at.

Your big arse couldn't sneak up on Hellen Keller.

What does dangerous have to do with anything? The comment was made that to have multiple firearms in the house in case of emergency was being "paranoid" (and trashy, I'm sure). I'm assuming those making that statement were surely commenting on the rarity of violent home invasions and not injecting their own personal biases or opinions into the matter. Since lethal household fires are also an extremely rare occurrence, I would think fire extinguisher ownership is some indication of overly cautious paranoia.
Or, you could just admit what you thought was your "gotcha" moment (fire extinguishers are just as dangerous as guns???? Wait, wut???) fizzled and you're just basically full of shite.

never understood why you have to "lock" the guns up with kids around. I never touched the guns unless my dad said I could. Fear of my father's reaction to my disobedience kept my childish curiosity in check. My dad knew he could trust me when it came to this type of thing.
Sounds like you have a similar relationship with your kids.

Lol. If someone breaks into my house in the middle of the night the last thing I want to have to do it fumble around trying to unlock a gun safe.
I have a loaded 12 gauge next to my bed. And it was always be there.

Definitely. It's a terrible idea to have your gun and your kids locked up in the same place.

of course if they got a ladder or a chair and carried it all the way upstairs and set it up in my close they could reach it....but why would they go through all that trouble...they know what the consequences would be it I ever caught them and they also know that my guns are not toys.

Because they are fricking kids and don't think about consequences all the time.

I agree, but climbing onto the top shelf of my closet to grab my gun is a pretty big deal that they are well aware of the consequences. Im not talking about climbing on the kitchen counter to look for candy here

I have a 9mm, .357, AR, and shotgun all loaded with one hot and I don't lock mine up.
My kids and step kids know not to touch my guns unless they are outside with me and I'm right there with them.
Then again I taught them how to properly handle, shoot, and respect the power of guns.

I have an 8 month old and my gun is in my nightstand loaded but not chambered. When she starts walking, this will change.
