If you don't have any regrets you're doing it all wrong.

June 26, 1977 I was in Indianapolis and had an offer for two free tickets to see Elvis... turned them down because I figured I had too much work to do and would just catch him another time. He died three weeks later.

I was going to buy $100 worth of bitcoin when it was $13 per coin to try out a new online poker site called Seals with Clubs. By the time my account got verified and I was actually able to purchase bitcoins the price had doubled and I decided it was too volatile and decided to wait...

Failing to buy/sell certain stocks at the right times for sure.

I'm not sure I have regrets, per se. There are things that I could point to and say that I wish I'd done differently in the moment, and there are definitely some hurts I caused that I would love to take back. Then there's the fact that I totally wish I knew in high school what I know today, because I would have been a lot less stupid and self-destructive.

But even if my life didn't turn out exactly like I expected or envisioned, it's a life I happen to love and be grateful for. There's really nothing about it that I want to change because I feel like there's always a trade off, and I'm not willing to trade for hypothetical happiness when I already have the real thing. So it's hard for me to say I have regrets when everything, good or bad, is what led me to where I am today.

Regrets are o.k. and actually important to life, as long as you learn from them.

Yeah, I was 23 and convinced that I was getting married at the perfect age, but clearly that was the "young and stupid" talking.

We were lucky in that it worked out for us in the long run, so I can't fairly call it a regret. But I just think it made things so much harder for us than they had to be, and my hope for my kids is that they're older and more settled when/if they decide to get married.
