That's fine. You be a victim, I sure as hell won't be because some degenerate wants my shite.

To clarify, I hope I never have to use it. It's the last thing I want to happen on the earth next to myself or loved ones being a victim.

And I don't walk around paranoid all day, but I will be prepared in the event the worst happens.

I have a CCL and haven't been to a movie without a firearm since I got it 3 years ago. Even if the theater says "gun free zone" I still bring one in.

Can I prevent a psycho from doing something like this? No. Could being prepared for a situation like this possibly save some lives? Yes.

I'm not saying anyone is stupid or wrong for carrying, far from it. Its that attitude like the OP that I find to be sad. Someone so afraid that they don't want to go in public without a gun attached to their hip? That goes beyond preparedness. That's letting fear and irrational thoughts control your life.

actually odds are you will still be a victim...

I carry, but I don't fear for my family's safety 24/7. I'd just rather have it and not need it then the other way around.

just curious...and I'd do the same, but if you took down the shooter...would anyone ask why you had a gun in a gun free zone? and could there be repercussions? I understand its dumb to think, but its a dumb world.

I honestly don't know. I would hope that in Louisiana, there wouldn't be any repercussions.

ETA: From what I understand, it isn't illegal to carry in a movie theater. The theater is just a private business that chooses to not allow guns on their premises. It is against the law to carry in some government buildings, churches, bars, schools, etc. I won't carry where it is illegal to do so.

Yes, I do.

If you aren't going to put in the time and effort to train yourself, don't waste your time or money. Become an experienced shooter, if you aren't already. Take classes. Go through tactical training. Otherwise when you need to pull the pistol you won't have any muscle memory or training to reflect and lean on.

Do NOT take CC'ing lightly. It's a huge responsibility. Treat is as such.

I doubt very seriously any law enforcement agency would have the gall to charge you, unless you hurt innocent bystanders

i passed the class and the shooting portion but never actually applied to get it. I kept thinking of how much responsibility came with it. Plus there are so many situations the instructor talk about where there is such a fine line between doing the right thing and going to jail yourself. It's weird. The class actually talked me out of it. That was 3-4 years ago. I have actually been thinking about retaking it and getting the license now just because of all of the things that have happened lately.

just seems like common sense to me

if someone is coming to rob you in public, I doubt you will see it coming, so the criminal will most assuredly have the upper hand, and if he has a gun, will have his gun on you before you can react

and honestly, I'd rather give a robber my wallet than try to pull a gun to stop him

now could you stop a criminal from harming somewhere else as a bystander? that would be more likely, but someone coming after you? just seems like common sense that you are not going to have the upper hand in most situations

You know the saying "I'd rather be judged by 12 instead of carried by 6.".
