It's because LSU doesn't lose when you're on vacation!

this is the new "I'm vegan" I swear the I don't drink crowd will find anyway to announce to the world that they don't drink. A thread about hangovers is probably one you could have sat out..but here you are

they are much worse tbh

Most vegans don’t actually bring it up very often, at least not in 2025

would agree... vegans at their height of annoying would work it into as many convos as possible. I see people now posting 3 MONTHS SINCE I QUIT ALCOHOL..ZERO DRINKS MY LIFE IS SO MUCH BETTER NOW. or... ANYONE INTERESTED IN A DRY BRUNCH... I LOVE BRUNCH BUT FYI IT'S BEEN 2 MONTHS SINCE I QUIT DRINKING SO..

Ok... cool....here's your attention.

This is just a hunch based on anecdotes, but I believe a lot of the people doing this weren’t big drinkers in the first place.

It’s easy for them to give up, and it’s easy “points” to quit drinking

October 19 marks a year without a drop of alcohol (I’m not a transubstantiationist, but communion wine doesn’t count regardless). I had done 6-9 month stints before. And there were times in undergrad (definitely not law school) where I just lost interest in alcohol for extended periods.
But this is the longest I’ve teetotaled in nearly 36 years.
Highly recommend.

I agree... I actually have a good friend of mine who is in recovery and when he decided to seek help he had a very candid and you could tell private convo with me. He does not broadcast at all that he is an alchoholic or that he struggles to stay sober for his family... I think that's probably generally the case.

In contrast is people who have jumped on the latest wellness trend. They aren't wrong.. alcohol is in fact a poison and yes you will be more healthy forgoing it...but Jesus their desire to turn it into a personality trait is insufferable

Less stress… on vacation your mind is free. At home even if you don’t think about it, certain things are always in your mind.

I could or probably am wrong but that’s how I see it.

If I’m counting correctly you’re referring to my post. If so, then ell me what part of my account reflects a “desire to turn it into a personality trait.” If I’m counting incorrectly then apologies.
My story is simple: have drunk alcohol since teenage years. Stopped drinking a year ago. Feel better. The end.

ETA: I get it now. We have an edgelord douchebag poster. Carry on.

I was...your post doesn't scream of making it your personality trait, but someone giving up alcohol feeling the need to comment how they gave up alcohol on a thread about hangovers is..something.

It's the same as someone asking what everyones favorite cut of meat is then a vegan chiming into say how they are vegan

Again I know a few people in recovering one of which is like a brother to me and I respect the frick out of him or anyone that has to dig out of addiction, but the new trend of people giving up alcohol just because they want to then mentioning it every chance they get gets old.

haven’t gotten drunk in 15 years. I don’t understand why anyone would enjoy being hungover if you’re 50 yrs old or over. Take a few adderall or Norcos….so much better….lol

Now try adderall and norcos with alcohol

You’re welcome

Yes, I do

But it's shortlived because I jump in the ocean/pool/lake and start drinking again

I drink MORE on vacation

Kids getting sunscreen and sand in their eyes, screaming their bathing suit from yesterday is still wet, they stay up later than they should with their cousins/friends and are grouchy. A morning beer is a godsend.

I don't drink during the week when I'm not on vacation and every day on vacation.

I can drink beer all day at the resort in Mexico and feel fine the next morning. Maybe it’s less alcohol or I’m always eating and relaxing too. Always end up nearly shitting myself down there, though.
