this. Flashing your lights to warn others of a cop actually slows down speeders and does more for safety than having a cop hiding on a shoulder and then pull someone else on a 8' shoulder on a busy highway.

Absolutely. And I appreciate when others do for me.

Had a guy give me the heads up once years ago when I was FLYING down highway 1, and I will never forget it. I always pass it forward from then on.

One time someone flashed their lights at me then this weird aura came over me. I turned around and followed them to where they were parked. They were hard core making out so I slit their throats.

Then I left.

It was a weird experience.

that's the exact thing to do! let's use this as a learning experience, even though you might possibly have been kidding and may have not actually done this, by flashing your lights to alert someone to the presence of the heat, this could be exactly the type of potential unsub that you could be warning

No. It's illegal in some states.

I never knew that. Which states?

wouldn't be surprised to find it is illegal in most, if not all

ETA: after a micro search, not illegal in all, but gives probable cause for stops in quite a few of those where it isn't technically illegal

Well, if the point is to slow people down and save lives rather than generate revenue the cop shouldn't care.

In fact, light flashing for a few miles increases his effectiveness under that assumption.

the cops take on this, and this is one of the few areas that I side with them, is that you might be warning perps that: may have just escaped form prison and are being searched for, someone that has just committed a felony and is being searched for, an amber alert victim being searched for, etc.

I guess I'm just one of the old guys on here that doesn't do it and don't think it's right for others to do as well. I'm glad it is illegal in lots of places. I don't speed that much, follow all the traffic laws, everything in my car is up to date (insurance, inspections, registration) and I don't have any warrants outstanding. So I have nothing to fear from cops. If people are doing what they are supposed to, then they wouldn't either.

I want the cops out there catching all the illegal drivers. I'm talking those without insurance, no license, piece of crap car that shouldn't be on the road and even better, those people that are trying to run from outstanding tickets or court orders. Why would I try to aid criminals or those in the act of breaking the law? Let the downvotes come, but I don't get why people would do it, unless they are criminals themselves..

Say that to my face dipshit. Sorry you're too stupid to understand I'd kick your arse if you did. If you can't be respectful, keep your stupid thoughts to yourself.

pfff...like a person going over the speed limit is "trying" to kill everyone...

That's right.... like the asswipes racing each other that nearly wiped out 3 cars in front of me on I-55 last week.
