My mother smoked practically all her adult life, struggled many times with quitting. Four years ago flu complications put her in the hospital. The Dr. walked in and asked her if she smoked. When she said yes, the Dr. said "not any more you don't." She hasn't smoked since and it wasn't that difficult for her to quit. Some people just need the right motivation.

I smoked for over 10 years . I have proudly been tobacco free for over a year. It wasn’t easy but I feel so much better now.

I have a friend who tried every drug on the planet in Nam. Quit them all. Can't kick cigs. He told me this is the hardest thing he's ever tried to do.

What I don't get is....WHY do people START smoking? Bad for you, expensive, stinks, bad breath, etc....

WTF?

Back when I smoked winter was my favorite time to smoke one.

As far as vaping I tried to quit with that but just wasn’t the same. I ended up on chantix and quit

I think younger people now no longer do it like 20 plus years ago. According to young folks I work with hardly anyone in high school smoked they say, when I was in high school at least half the class smoked or dipped. This was in the 90s, I guess people have just become wiser, I don’t know. I dipped in high school and started smoking at 19 and quit in early 30s.

ETA: Unfortunately I still only while hunting though will dip. Sometimes on my morning hunts I’ll bring a cigar to smoke with my coffee if I’m hunting on the ground waiting on the sun to rise. It’s been long enough now it doesn’t bother me but I never smoke a cigarette. For instance I haven’t had any tobacco since last hunting season

I smoked recreationally for a while and got hooked. Also enjoyed a good chew.

Nicotin is a bitch. Now I vape to curb my addiction but I hope to quit that at some point too.

If I could go back in time I’d beat the hell out of my 16 y/o self, or at least try to. It is definitely a bitch. Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I’ve done, was a 2 pack a day smoker

I don’t really feel sorry for them. I just shrug them off as trashy and go about my day.

This.

But it's the only way most of these pussy-arse losers can feel good about themselves. Start a thread about something that's generally bashed by everyone and just ride the wave. There's a reason there's 20 cigarette and tattoo and fat threads a day and it's because the OT is generally populated by bitches.

I must be so different. I can pick up a pack of smokes, and smoke it. Then give it up for months, and then do it again.

Yea that’s not how addiction works, that’s called just being a social smoker and many people do that. It takes months or even a year of smoking everyday until you realize you can’t stop.

What if someone has no desire to quit smoking? I've never even tried, because I don't have any reason to.

I'm also not gonna huddle in a big group with a bunch of other people. That's gross, and I don't like people that much

I was able to quit.
Wasn't that hard either.

It's a strange addiction. I quit 19 years ago and every once in a while I find myself patting my pocket looking for a cigarette after all these years.

I don’t smoke, but I also don’t look down on those that do.

Literally everyone has some type of addiction that they would like to kick or healthy habit they would like to pick up. If you dont you’re lying to yourself.

You are right. It is probably best to just sit there, ignorant, and pass judgment when you clearly don't know what you are speaking of.

You gays do that a lot.

All the bullshite smoke breaks they take too, it’s another extra lunch break a day

Are we laughing about them standing outside or are we bitching because we're not standing outside?
