No paper plates get used in my house, except for putting wet cat food down for the cats.

We tried using paper plates a few months ago, but found the amount of trash it made was worse than putting dirty dishes in a dishwasher. Seemed I was taking out the trash out twice a day.

I'll never understand this. In the time it takes you to pre wash dishes for the dishrinser you can just wash the dish(es) by hand. I cannot stand old, crusty arse dishes sitting in a dishrinser for days, or not having what I want at hand because it is just hanging out, dirty, in the dishrinser. It takes all of a minute to handwash a plate and glass.

Agreed. A lot of the arguments seem to be over a dishwasher as if handwashing is an alien concept. Wash them after you’re done and any bits of food comes right off vs having it dry on there and a minute later you’re done. If that’s too hard and they’d rather eat off paper that thh they’ll trash perhaps one needs to step back and reevaluate their life.

Someone is “trashy” and “lazy” for using a paper plate.

So I should make a ham sandwich and eat off a porcelain plate? Toast and jam?

Hey, you wanna eat off real plates and wash them, rock on brother. But starting this thread is idiotic. Judging people that are different than you. You should feel ashamed.

We use paper plates some, probably more than real ones. Our dishwasher is broken and I just haven't gotten around to getting a new one. We don't use it that much anyway.

I wouldn't serve guests or eat a ribeye on one though. We're definitely slightly trashy

Water resources can be manipulated to be "less finite".

Damns, lakes, pipelines, etc. We can make it so that we have more accessible water available.

Don't have kids. Depends on the meal. If it's a sandwich and chips, paper all day. If it's a nicer meal, real plates. Pasta or steak on paper plate is trashy.

I have 4 kids. We use paper. We aren’t washing 6 plates three times a day.

Are people serious in here? Using upwards of 500 paper plates per month is better than throwing a dish in a dishwasher? God damn people are lazy and stupid.

Exactly. We use plastic disposable plates too because they are stronger and won't sag. Just toss them in the trash to save water and I'm doing my part for the environment.

I like the plastic ones better than paper because there’s nothing left over when I burn them vs paper that leaves ashes in the backyard. Waste not want not

My wife wants to eat every meal off the nicest plates we own- stuff I envisioned as being for Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.

Paper plates? That's nowhere near a possibility here
