Do you/did you set screen time limits for your kids? And how old were they?

If you did how much time did they get and how old were they when you started setting a time?

No limits. I just make snide comments in passing about how lazy and tech addicted their generation is.

Kids with phones and iPads weren’t really a thing when my daughter was very young, but phones became more prevalent when she was in middle school. She was always an active kid (soccer when young and later cheer) who made excellent grades, and she never seemed to be addicted to the phone. Nevertheless, I would take her phone each night at bedtime and keep it in my room. I stopped doing that when she was a junior, I think. By that time, she liked her sleep too much to stay up all night on her phone.

Yes for all of them.
8th grade before they get a phone
After they have a phone it is blocked except for parents from 8pm to 7am.
We don’t own a gaming system.
Laptop/computer access limited for homework plus 1 hour on weekend.
TV we don’t watch broadcast TV, limited movies, college football season will mean a fair amount of screen time though.

60 minutes per day they could break it up however they wanted but they had to let us know when they were on it and the devices stayed in our bedroom when not in use and at night.

What about when they were little? Like less than 5?

My kids are 5 and 2 and telling them right now to turn their shows off.
The five year old has a great strategy of waking up at 6am or whatever the first sign if sunlight is on weekends when we want to sleep in so he gets an hour in like that
We typically put timers on for 30 minutes or less at a time but they fight it

At that age, the only time she used a tablet was when we traveled. If we watched YouTube at that age, it was people reading kids books.
To answer the original question, my kid (7ish) has no dedicated screen time, but she asks before - and if she doesn't have her shite together, no screen time. She occasionally throws a fit about it - I'll tell her to accept it or go live under the interstate.
She's not allowed free roaming on YouTube, so it's mostly Kids Art Hub. (And Netflix cartoons.)
She's currently drawing and coloring at the kitchen table. They don't NEED phones/tablets, in the least.

They have a scheduled screen time.
They’re in prison, so that helps.

We had limits but sometimes on a long car ride we busted this limits for sanity's sake. Now I run it through Family Link (not an i-family), which isn't perfect but is decent. I can shut anyone down at any time, unlock remotely, limits are automatic, control when devices are allowed to be used base on time of day. The one thing I don't get about family link is that I can't set a time limit or lock someone out of the Google app. I don't want them browsing in chrome all over the place or youtube, so I limit those, but through the Google app you just search and find anything anyway. It's dumb.

We have a 6 and 3 year old. Both girls. They are on their iPads a lot. They love Roblox. I cut it off after dinner and the older one is in school most of the day so it’s not too much of a problem.
