Mandeville is not a Nola suburb, the Earth is flat, and Pluto is a planet

Mandeville has always had a mental institution, so it does have that going for it

It is. Mandeville wouldn’t be as prosperous as it is if it wasn’t for NOLA.

Probably wouldn’t even exist.

That's only because of all the work-from-home arrangements made during Covid as well as so many New Orleans firms/banks opening up offices on the Northshore. many of these people still work for New Orleans area businesses.

In light of the new reality of work, the 25% threshold is pretty much meaningless now and should be abandoned.

You must not have seen Causeway in Metairie heading for the bridge in the mid to late 90s. Traffic would start to back up starting at 330 and by 500 it was past I-10 . It was starting to become a real suburb then.

But whatever technicalities....Mandeville/Covington is considered a suburb of New Orleans and its metro area.

Yeah, I can’t imagine that 25% of the Lowa 9 works at all, whether in Orleans Parish or anywhere else.

I graduated from Brother Martin in '90, there were a decent number of students that were living on the Northshore.

The Saints fans on the OT are going to downvote any statistic that minimizes NOLA population and relevance. NOLA isn’t a NFL city any longer and these inconvenient facts that show relocation is the answer ties them in knots and their only recourse is to downvote early and often (even if forced to register an Alt).

I’ve never understood when people say that Mandeville is a suburb of New Orleans. I mean, there is a lake in between the two places. I guess it just depends on one’s interpretation of “suburb”. What do you think?

I don’t know what the literal definition of a suburb is, but to me it’s just a smaller town/city that is near a larger city. One key factor to me is that people typically travel from their “suburb” to the nearby city for work.

For instance, Youngsville is a suburb of Lafayette.
