Baton Rouge is a college town to a point.. Fanbase is strong here.... The town has fallen off IMO as far as an attractive town... Too much crime and a lot of people just don't want to live there...

State College Penn IS a college town....

but Baton Rouge was just made perfectly to be a shitty town.

Even LSU cant lift BR up. Keep the state govt and move LSU to New Orleans.

Not at all.

That doesn't mean Baton Rouge offers much more, though.

Do the opposite.

BR could be pretty awesome with just LSU as it's core.

LSU in New Orleans would be an absolute shitshow

When my sister went there in the late 70s it seemed that way, I was little though.

In Madison, WI everything revolves around the campus. The state Capitol is basically on campus. Baton Rouge is of no comparison. Very few cities are.

I have heard that as well.

You can still see how it could have been that way.

LSU would be so much better in pineville.

The only thing BR adds to LSU is traffic and crime.

I think of baton rouge as a city in which part of it is a college town.. That part being LSU's campus and a certain radius beyond the gates of LSU.

Kind of like Fort Worth with TCU, but on a smaller scale

Yeap, when I think of an authentic college town I think of a place like Auburn, Al. The university is almost dead center of the town and a good chunk of the residence in the town is associated with the university (whether they work there or whatever).

And they needed something for kids to do on the non-game days so they used any left over money to fund a college, at least that what it felt like to me.

West Lafayette Indiana is my favorite college town. The area is integrated with the Purdue campus, with bars, restaurants , movie theaters and businesses intermingled with the campus.
