Baton Rouge is a state capital, not a college town.

my grandparents lived there for 25 years, from the 60s till about 1990.

They said they hardly thought about lsu, unless they were out during a football game.

Auburn and Bozeman should be added to the list.

Yeap, when I think of an authentic college town I think of a place like Auburn, Al. The university is almost dead center of the town and a good chunk of the residence in the town is associated with the university (whether they work there or whatever).

Auburn is a good college town.

Oxford is a better college town

Oxford is a legitimate contender for best college town in America. Charlottesville is also an extremely high quality college town.

Baton Rouge and Tallahassee are essentially the same place.

Yes, because there isn't shite to do in the summer. It becomes a ghost town.

Not really. It's literally right on an interstate.

You guys do realize if LSU were relocated, the only major universities in this area southeastern and southern. And Southern (based purely on programs offered) would be the only college with professional programs outside of health care

I would never have ever thought someone would post West Laf as their favorite college town.

BR seemed like an OK town to me. College town, yes. Remarkable in memorable ways? Not really besides the campus lakes and oak trees. Only been there a couple times- so I didnt see it all.

Hard to beat Madison (north) or Athens (south).
Madison is officially over 240k, so similar in that aspect to BR it is a larger college type town.

Is Austin a college town? That place is even bigger.Columbus, OH?
Certainly.

I do think there is something cool about places like Auburn with dinky towns that draw huge football crowds on Saturdays.
