They have tons of great uses but none of them involve going into the ear canal and the majority of them aren't in the bathroom.
You are getting hammered but you are correct liquids are the only thing that should be used to clean wax out of the ear canal. Ear wax is there for a reason and you shouldn't clean your ears constantly.

Used Q tips for decades, hearing in left ear got so bad I thought I needed hearing aids. Went to an audiologist, 4-5 tests later, he turned me over to a P.A. & she flushed it out with warm water, over & over again. She then took an instrument, she dug it out for a good while, finally showed me a plug of wax, a thick plug, and she said this is what Q tips are good for, i.e. plugging the ears with a wad of wax. Another test, doc told me I didn't need hearing aids. Recommended several flush kits at most stores, got a good one at Albertson's for around $20.

We used to use bobby pins when I was growing up. Very effective at removing wax. You can really frick your ears up if you go too deep, or get too enthusiastic, though. You had to have a steady hand, and nobody around to bump into you.

Toyota keys from the mid 90’s through early 2000’s were great for ear cleaning. Wish I would have kept a set in fact.

Not since I got a bad case of vertigo. Supposedly they can act to compact buildup in the ear, which can lead to vertigo. Not fun.

If you need to clean your ears get a tool called a Spade by Axel Glade. It’s got a bluetooth camera that connects to your phone. You stick it in your ear to pick out the wax and watch the camera feed on your phone, works great.

I got an axel glade about 2 years ago and that thing is amazing. I dont even need the camera now. I can scratch and clean any part of my inner ear just by feel.

I have, or my wife bought me, a little scooper thing. I e pulled out some chunks of wax with it. But I need to study that axel

I had to go to an urgent care about a year ago for it. I wanted to puke when I saw what came out of my ear. I will never use q tips again.

Shoving a Q-tip inside your ear does nothing but pack the wax further down inside.
