TIL the OT is full of mastermind financiers with no bad habits that pay their credit card bills on time for those sweet, sweet rewards.

Those points merely further their slavery to consumerism. Bankers win in the end.

The only risk of a credit card is you not being mature enough to not spend more than what you have.

I dont understand the OT's need to brag about using their credick cards. If you are an adult, you have a debit card because you have a bank account. Adults also have credit cards. Congrats.

The risk is overspending on the credit card every month and dwindling that savings account down to nothing.

Only if you’re on a limited budget and your spending outpaces your income.

Yes

I use it for purchases under ~$100. Anything over I use a credit card for the points.

Only credit card. I have to go to the bank everyday anyway so if I need cash I'll cash a check. Debit cards are insecure AF.

I travel often/frequently for work and get the points from that ($5-10k a month). It is more of a pain to put nickknack purchases on my cc if it is below $100

This. You don't "get" anything from using a checking card. As long as your diligent about paying off your credit card bill, you'd be crazy not to use it over the checking card.

I'll never understand why people trust checks. It literally has your Bank Account Number and Routing Number printed on the front. With how easy direct deposit is these days

To be honest, I'd be totally fine with would-be criminals direct depositing to my checking account.

It would literally make my day finding an extra couple of hondos in there.

You should never use debit cards. With those they could clean out your checking account and you'd face a long uphill battle trying to recoup the fraudulent charges. The bank has no incentive to expedite anything.

With credit cards you have protection as the credit card company is out the cash not you directly and there is more in-place to protect the card holder.

You are slightly better protected under the law with a CC vs a DC.

DEBIT CARD FRAUD

According to the EFTA, your potential liability for fraudulent debit card transactions is virtually unlimited. You have up to 60 days to report a lost or stolen card under the EFTA. After that, you simply lose whatever money was taken, even funds siphoned from linked accounts. The exact liability limits under the EFTA are:

Lost or stolen card reported before unauthorized transactions: zero liability.
Lost or stolen card reported within two days: $50 liability limit.
Lost or stolen card reported within 60 days: $500 liability limit.
After 60 days: no protection.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD

Under the FCBA, your maximum liability for fraudulent credit card transactions is $50. If you report your card lost or stolen before any fraudulent transactions occur, your liability is zero. Many credit cards promise zero liability for all fraudulent transactions.

How is it more of a pain? The process stays the same no matter what amount you spend.

spend money ---> earn points ---> redeem points

Wrong. Debit card, swipe, done. Credit card, differentiate personal from business, pay bill, etc.
