I keep hearing people say that people will get what is coming to them, but I'm not sure if that really always happens. And I've also seen a lot of good people go through some unfair situations.

I guess one can hope.

I don't necessarily believe that there is some mysterious, magical force that rules fairness...however, I do believe that in general, people get what they deserve in this world...

Nope...things happen. Good...bad...whatever. There does not seem to be any scorecard or balance sheet that evens everything out.

Karma, like most thoughts like that are used as a balm to settle down people who get the shaft so that they think A)one day I'll get mine, so I can suck it up now and/or B) one day that guy who gets all the breaks or is universally considered an a-hole will pay.

It' seem fairly unlikely any of that happens or will happen.

In short...make the most of your own life and quit worrying about others and if they'll get what's coming to them.

you make your own karma,

in general if you are nice to people over a period of time, more often than not people will be nice to you back.

if you are a dick to people, more often than not, people will be a dick to you back.

No, that's a bunch of Buddhist foolishness.

Time wounds all heels, that is a fact.

Yes. I was having a recent string of bad luck then I started doing the dishes and going to church and now I am back on track.

I mean, if someone you know is consistently an a-hole, surely someone will stomp their face in or be an even greater a-hole. Is that karma because he gets what he deserves, or is it simply that he was an a-hole?

I don't believe in Karma,as some type of supernatural thing.
I do believe in it,as a natural occurrence though.A person that does bad to others, burns bridges with people,etc..well,that is a person that just doesn't think things through all the way. Sooner or later, their shortsightedness will catch up with them.
