I am a Buddhist.

It is actually a misconception that Buddhists believe that there is some magical "karma" force that balances everything out. In actual Buddhist belief, karma is basically just cause and effect. The effect is not governed by some cosmic force or a god, but instead the effect is a result of the choices YOU make. Karma literally means "action," where "phala" means "fruit," as in the effect.

So as an example: I got a tattoo of a cock on my forehead (karma), and now I can't find anyone who will hire me for employment (phala).

I think people get what they deserve, but that has to do with their life choices more than anything. IDGAF about karma. If I'm doing something nice for someone, I don't need anything in return

That's good advice. I guess letting someone keep you in misery is exactly the satisfaction they're looking for. Revenge quits being fun for them when they see you being happy anyway.
