I have one friend that doesn't follow sports at all (other than the occasional LSU football game). We pick on him about it it's always fun to quiz him on widely known sports facts and he has some stupid answer.

I asked my neighbor where I should kennel our dogs during vacation and she suggested Michael Vicks Dog Spa. Is that a good spot?

bet that A. These are the types to want to name something "Something McSomethingFace", or "New Orleans Baby cakes". B. They listen to bands you wouldn't, drink beers you wouldn't, and wear things you wouldn't

Year round I reference "the game" in random conversations to gauge whether or not I have anything in common with people.

If they immediately understand which game I'm vaguely referring to and start their reply with some reference to "the play" from said game, then I know that I just found a friend.

Eta then this happens:

You must be wonderful....i hope I watched the game if I see you one day.

I personally grew up around sports. My dad used to coach, then hosted sports shows for a bit on radio (local stuff). I somehow know vaguely what's going on all the time and I rarely watch games or ESPN. Mostly just LSU sports for me (never was the biggest saints fan, and although baseball is my favorite sport, I don't have a favorite team and it's hard to follow on TV). You really have to live under a rock to completely not know what's going on. ESPN is always on in the background of the gym locker room, there are always updates on regular radio, and I do tune in for the big stuff such as the Cubs in the WS and the games to get them there.

My father-in-law is about the only one I know like this. It kills me when we have to go to his house for a family gathering on the day of a major sports event. He'll have the tv on some random channel with the volume muted, while Christian music plays on the stereo. It's sheer toeture.

I'm an adamant sports fan. There is always a relevant sports storyline, that's what I was insinuating when I said "the game." Year round true die-hard sports will always know what game you're referencing.

Off the top of my head, I can't name but one or two MLB players. Only about six or seven NBA but I know a ton of nfl players and watch constantly . I never watch pro basketball or baseball. It's garbage.

Don't know nothing about racing, hockey, tennis, golf.

I know more soccer players than those sports minus football combined.

Sports are just games

You are so invested in a game.

Might as well get a hard on for Monopoly

I follow some sports, but I haven't watch an MLB game since 2000, only a handful of NBA games since 2000, and less than 4 NFL games a year.

I would understand the Barry Bonds "joke", but anything more obscure than that and I wouldn't get it.

I have a couple of friends who are only very casually into sports. They're both UGA fans and will definitely go to the bar to watch a UGA game, they just don't really keep up with stuff on the level most of us do.

You'll go over to their house and say something like "I think Freeman is back for the Braves tonight" and they'll just play along and go "oh shite really, put on the game" even though I'm sure they don't care.

That's the kind of non-sports friend I can work with. Someone who truly dislikes sports is a different deal.

So you said "i'm about to Barry Bonds this mother fricker" in a serious manner? The mental image is making me laugh.

I think most people probably have an idea of who Barry Bonds is and certainly are aware that baseball exists. In that situation, you'd think he would just assume Barry Bonds is a baseball player though.

There are plenty of people who have no clue though. I've met people (a person) who didn't know Babe Ruth was a baseball player as opposed to a candy bar.

I'll take the total sports invalids over the bandwagon jumpers any day. We are about one month away from every a-hole whose mom traveled through Texas while she was pregnant with them claiming they have "always been an Astros fan."

Triggers the hell out of me.
