Earlier this evening I was at a friends house and there was a toy or some shite that kept making this annoying sound. There was this piece of pipe in my friend's shop, where we were, up against the wall and I grabbed it and said.. "pitch it, I am about to Barry Bonds this mother fricker" and my friend laughed (it wasn't meant to be a joke, I just said it bullshitting around with no intent to be funny) and this guy, my friend had over, who I met for the first time today was there. And he said "you are going to do what?", I guess not understanding what I said.. And I said "I was going to hit it" and he asked "yeah, but what did you say instead of hit it?" and I told him I said I was going to Barry Bonds it. He kinda laughed and asked "what does that mean?" and my friend was like "Barry Bonds.. the dude with the most homeruns in a season" and the guy said "Oh. He is a baseball player? I don't follow sports".

I know there are people who doesn't follow sports as much as others and some people who don't really follow it, but are at least aware of the big stories.. But how common is it for someone to know absolutely nothing about sports?

always a few folks around who don't follow sports, but they are certainly not in the majority. most every man finds that he likes one sport or another.

That is some kind of disorder...I saw a documentary on the Discovery channel about it a while back.

No.

Especially not whatever sport that is the topic, maybe they follow NFL but not MLB for instance.

Maybe that's why I can't imagine going home after such an encounter and making a thread about it.

I assume most men have a baseline knowledge of some sports things. If I find they don't I know it's not somebody I would ever be good friends with anyway so I don't talk to them anymore.

Honestly, I don't follow sports at all. I am in a fantasy football league though, not because I like sports. It's because I like math.

I don't follow sports at all and it's never something that I think about, so I don't make the assumption that most do. I find it boring so it's hard for me to actually imagine anyone following much less most people.

You don't have to follow sports at all and know a homerun is in baseball. Dude must live under a rock.
