My kid inherited one from his grandfather, but I don't think he's old enough to play with it yet. Too dangerous.

My grandfather was an engineer for KCS, so it has always been an interest to our family. I have a 4 and 7 year old, so a couple of years ago I got back into it. I don't have a train room or big layout. We just have about 20' of quick connect track we layout on our living room rug every once in a while. We have about 20 box cars, tankers, coal cars, etc. and of course I had to spring for a bad arse ATLAS KCS engine.



The layouts are cool, but take up a bunch of room. With the new quick connect tracks, I find set up and take down to be quick and easy. I could care less about model buildings and trees. We just like to watch the train go round and round.
