You're the reason people can't eat at certain restaurants during Essence Fest

Your salary, and thus the regular paycheck, is probably based a lot on how experienced you are and how well you do your job. Tipping is your way of paying waitstaff based on how well they do their job.

If they suck at it, they won't get as good of tips and won't end up making as much money as the waiter who is excellent at it.

then you go to a fancy place with a $200 tab for a table of two and this waitress is cleaning house with tips and does a bunch of nothing.

And they deserve it. They have worked their way up with hard work and a good attitude. Now they get to wait on civilized people and not the trash of the OT who will happily work them to death at Apple Bees and leave a $3 tip.

I kinda think the whole tipping thing is pretty pointless.

Why are waiters expecting tips when the rest of the working world gets a regular paycheck for doing their job?

When I waited tables I expected 15% of pre-tax. Anything more was lagniappe.

I just hoped for $2-3 from ...nevermind.

ahh so now we're tipping off of resume... bc she spouted off 5 fancy words on the menu and doesn't put on makeup nor pluck eyebrows doesn't make her a super waitress.

Whatever. This is a pointless debate on the OT. Not sure why I even play along.
Have fun
