We were at the range when news broke of quasi martial law back home. Ceased all shooting of 9mm & 30.06 ammo...let my kid get his kicks with the .22 AR for 15 minutes before pulling that ammo too. I think we've saved just enough to survive the first wave of the zombie apocalypse.

They are all going to internet based classes. It looks like the school year is over here in Lafayette.

That... seems.... like they'll be missing 1/2 a year of "learning".

Actually, after thinking about it, I guess they'll just sort of pick up where they left off next year, and compress everything at the beginning.

Well, 2 months, as most schools end in mid May

And schools are setting up online stuff pretty quick right now, so if the kids have a parent worth anything, they shouldn’t miss too much

Unfortunately a lot of kids do have shitty parents though

Honestly I wouldn’t be upset if I had to hold my kids back a year. I wish I would have done that when they were in Kindergarten

Not sure, but I know no child under eighth grade will fail this year. High school is a different story so I’m not sure I just know from what they say no one is going back in Louisiana this year I son is a senior didn’t get to go to prom because it was canceled And may not get to work across the stage for graduation which is a shitty deal for them but it is what it is

This really sucks for the Seniors like my son. They’re going to miss out on her last few months of their senior year (literally the best months of their whole time in school going back to kindergarten) along with prom and probably a graduation ceremony.

I feel bad for college freshmen who live in dorms. They have to go back to mom in dad in Gonzales or sugarland instead of frat parties and bars for a couple months.

Imagine how bad it sucked for students along the gulf coast from Lake Charles to Biloxi after Katrina and Rita. Maybe your kid can be happy she still has a roof over her head.

We have been homeschooling for 2 years. My kids thought they were getting a break with the other kids. Wifey said "not so fast my friend". Regular days for my 2.

We started distance learning yesterday. I think some kids think it is summer, because there are a number of them who did not do their work.

what do they do? Go back in say... July, finish up by September and start next year after Labor Day? Just set everyone back 1/2 a year? Just move everyone up at the start of the next school year?

It will be #3

At this point in the year they’re pretty much focusing on the various standardized tests. With those cancelled then there isn’t much point.

Not a competition but it’s a learning opportunity for you and your child to put things in perspective and realize things can always be worse.
