Please - no sermons on safety. Do roundabouts move traffic better than traditional 4-way stops or traffic light intersections?

If people use them correctly yes. But people come to complete stops before entering and people in them are dickheads not letting anyone in.

Single lane roundabouts are fine. Multi-lane roundabouts are dumber than dumb

This.

They're awesome when people use them correctly. Unfortunately, in the US the driving test is terribly easy and horrible drivers litter the road. These people cannot figure out how to use them.

Perfect example of idiots not knowing how they work. You don't let people in. You keep going. They slip in where they can.

They've been installing them out the wazoo here in Colorado, and intersections that were previously backed up flow incredibly well now.

I have noticed a trend where they are planting trees/shrubs on the medians and the roundabout itself. While most of ours are saplings and young trees, it will eventually pose a visibility problem.

Of course you still have your fricking morons who come to a stop in the middle of a round a bout and people who don't know what they are doing, but they are sufficient. I wouldn't replace MAJOR intersections with them, but for 90% of scenarios, they are a solid choice.

yes, instead of T-bones at the 4-way, the blow is potentially softened because of the "glancing" blow, we've had them in our 'hood for about 12 years, seen a few dumbass things but haven't seen or heard of any wrecks at the roundabouts

and BTW: YES

You mad about the new in Leesville, too.

If people know how to use them, they are great.

Roundabouts are the new way to try and force the New World Order onto America. 30 years ago they tried with the metric system but we were still strong enough as a country to resist it. We didn't have what it takes this time and I'm afraid it's only gonna get worse from here.

Yes.

Mythbusters tested this out and verified it.

Holy shite, you do realize you have no clue how roundabouts work, right? You should NEVER stop or slow down or let anyone merge into a roundabout. If you are in the roundabout, you are king of the fricking road and everyone yields to you. If you are approaching a roundabout and there's a car in it and you can't merge in safely, then yes, you come to a stop.

I’m guessing OP lives somewhere east of BR off i12 and thinks the roundabouts off the exits suck.
