The OT can't process these types of facts. Its a majority black people who attend so in the average OTer's mind that automatically means a lot of crime is associated with it.

Why can't places put up a sign that reads

"Closed for Week of 4th of July due to lack of staff availability due to vacations. Will reopen next week.

Thank you, Management"

and simply avoid all the bullsh?

UNO is just fine Chief.

No programs struggling to maintain accreditation.

Offers chemistry, and engineering PhD programs.

Not elite of course. But, nothing to sneeze at.

What bullshite? I would think those businesses would want to cash in on an event that brings people from all around the country (world even) to New Orleans.

Essence attendees aren't bad but the festivities bring out local hood rats too. They're the ones causing problems and blocking green lights on Canal St.

If the difference between the Classic and Essence has to be explained, you might be special

Stepdaughter waited tables in the FQ during college, she said Essence festival was not a big problem, just not great tippers, for Bayou Classic they closed for maintenance as others on here have said.

Basically, a bunch of HBCU educated folks who think they are more sophisticated than they are.
Otherwise harmless. Tip ok, act like normal people.

Idk if Louisiana is different than Mississippi on this subject, but up here from what I’ve seen “ok tippers” do not exist among black people, even the more well to do/middle class.

They either don’t tip at all (usually). Or leave some bullshite like $1, which is even more insulting.

A 37% six year graduation rate? Yeah, you can sneeze at it.

I know alot of former UNO students and here's the general profile.

Mid 20's, early 30's. They bounce back and forth between Angola Community College (aka Delgado) and UNO. Maybe they tend a little bar at Johnny White's or some such shite. All the while calling themselves and each other "students". UNO slackers are fricking in love with the word student and they refer to themselves as such, every chance they get.

If you plan on retiring from college but never graduating. UNO is the place for you.

Essence Festival is an older more well off crowd. It's not a bunch of college kids.
