I get this but why do some people lie to speak favorable of the deceased?

A co-worker died about a year ago. He was a very active 50 year old guy and had a massive heart attack and died suddenly. I'm the first to say it was sad that he passed away and that is the only comment I have made at work about it. But honestly the co-worker was the biggest A-hole I have ever met in my life. He was a trouble maker, passive aggressive, shite stirring instigator. He was warned several times and was finally fired. I never figured out what he did as the last straw but I knew he was lucky to last as long as he did. On his last day of work here they brought in some catered food and even a good bye cake since he had worked here for 10 years. Well, the co-worker refused to go to his farewell party. He sat in the other break room eating his TV dinner alone. And the at the end of the day, when there was just a few people left, he goes and takes his half eaten cake as he walks out the door. That Friday they threw a happy hour celebrating him being fired. The co-worker died 7 months later. I did not go to the hh but it's funny hearing people that went to the hh saying the absolute nicest things about this guy one year after he passed. I just smile and shake my head when I hear these comments especially from certain people.

17yrs ago i was working for a telecom in NC. We fired a guy and on his way out he goes into a tirade screaming explitives and threatening to "fly my Mig-21 into this shithole building"

We kind of laughed after he left because it was such a weird thing to say. This was pre-9/11 so the thought of suicide attack via airplane was foreign to us. Plus, who friggin owns a mig???

Turns out the guy did not own an actual Mig-21 but he did own a replica warbird.

We didn't find out about the plane until he had actually committed suicide 6 months after being fired.

He could have seriously flown a fighter plane packed with fuel straight into our building and killed all of us.

so what if they were an a-hole while alive. Why does that give you the right to shite all over him now that he's dead?

I mean he was just an a-hole. But he didn't deserve to die simply based on that right? What do you have to gain by talking shite about a dead person?

Apparently he was asked to resign or he was going to be fired. Technically he choose to resign but it was by force.

You could say some nice things about him as well.

Old Bob sure could get things stirred up on a slow day around here.

Bob said you were great, in bed.

Bob always liked you in that dress. He would subconsciously grab his crotch when you walked past.

I think it has to do with people not being able to defend themselves and people wanting to think they associated with good friends. It's dumb, and nothing is more annoying than when someone dies having people who barely knew the person having emotional issues.

I never have. I say it was sad and that is it. I just think it's strange to say lies to boost someone up as the greatest person ever just because they are deceased.

This so logically incoherent. How does saying an a-hole was an a-hole mean you think he deserved to fricking die?

I had a part time job in college working in the office supply warehouse for a bank in BR. We would fill orders from the main building across the way and from the branches, for pens, envelopes, whatever. My supervisor was an old dude from Baton Rouge's Sicilian community. One day he announced he was going in the hospital for some routine tests. He never came out.

For about a week, everyone talked about how great "Mr. Tony" was, and how much they loved him. Then the truth started coming out about what they really thought--that he was pretty much an a-hole to everybody, and a serial sexual harasser of all the women he came in contact with.

Ever been to a Southern Baptist funeral in a small town?

One of my turning points in my religious views came when I was about 15 years old.

In my small town, there was a guy who was known to rip people off at his place of business, had been to prison for hiring someone to kill his wife, openly cheated on his wife (which is why he wanted her killed for the insurance money) and was pretty much the scum of the earth.

The once or twice a year he attended church, he went to church at the same church as my family.

This POS was killed in a drug deal gone bad. My parents made me go to the funeral with them and it was a service filled with this guy should be anointed a saint. He was a great husband, great father, great provider, etc. This guy's kids did not even show up at his funeral.

Bc if someone's a bad person you need to say that stuff to their face.

Once they die talking trash about them is kind of a pu$$y move
