Babies and toddlers are easy to tend to as long as you're willing to put your personal interests to the side.

And to actually answer this question, I think it evens out

From age 30-50, yes the non-kid couples will age signicantly better and look like they will live older.

But from age 65-85 is when us parents take over

We will have the joy of grandchildren to keep us young and give us the absolute joy of life

While the non-kids people will be wrinkled prunes from laying out on the beach all the time. Their partying days will be over now that they are older and they will wish for death with nothing to live for.

These are the easiest times. You'll look back on this fondly when they're raising hell in third grade, when they're coming home at all hours as teenagers, when they're changing their major for the fourth time, when they're moving back in with you after their divorce.

one of ours started smoking at age 15. She finally quit. Age 16. Goes on date, they come back, she's obviously been smoking. I lit into that guy and he never came back. SHE was resentful I gave him a raft of shite for getting her hooked again.

My MawMaw used to say, when I complained about such things when our kids were young, "sha, when they're little, its little problems, when they're big, it's big problems".

As always, she was right.

Our 2nd one tried that too, but we stuck with it. Don't give up.

You give great insight and I agree. I also knew the quit being a (insert cut down) lines were coming.

Hard to find good people on the internet that are willing to be fairly objective and halfway compassionate.

In no way am I saying this is impossible, just saying that parents with kids that are and always have been good sleepers just have no clue.

Look man, I am glad it worked for you. Our son cried for about 10 straight days, until the point of vomiting on himself every single night.

I dont think that is healthy for him. But glad it worked for you

relating to the OP's issue with sleeping.

I sang to mine. Holding, rocking, singing. mantras actually.
trouble is, I would be exhausted, and eventually when it looks like they are passed out, I put in crib and stop singing. baby opens eyes, "SING".
Oh man... I can laugh now.

I wish to provide something positive.

the ages from 4 to 12 were the best of my life.

made it all worth it. reading story books together. teaching keyboard. playing sports, especially swimming together. love. love. love. drenched in love.

you will find you forget that as they get really fun. At 6 months I would have never believed I could be talked into a second one. The second one gets here in September.

I get it, it's the reason we're here, but I'm only about 6 months in and have no idea how ppl have multiple kids. Maybe it's just the baby phase idk and maybe it's bc my kid is impossible, never ever sleeps.

It will get better, and you will feel bad about feeling the way you do.

Don't you just love the parents that brag "we just have the easiest and best baby ever"? Yeah screw yall.

My wife and I use to be like this. Our first boy was very stressful. Coupled with the fact that we had no idea what we were doing like most first time parents, he never slept, and constantly cried/screamed at us. And had some digestion/formula issues. It wasn't pleasant. But he eventually grew out of it and is a great kid now. But still has quirks.

We always hated parents who bragged about their kids sleeping through the night, and barely crying. ALWAYS wanted to throat punch them. We never thought we'd have one like that.

Fast forward 5 years later when my wife wanted to have another. I didn't want another mainly because I just didn't handle the first one well. Well she talked me into it, and we have had a pretty wonderful experience so far. Kid is a year old, and is pretty chill. pretty much the exact opposite of the other. So not we are the parents who have a pretty easy baby. We just don't brag about it, and we are very grateful.

Point is, no two kids are alike.

It gets better. Eventually, he or she will no longer take bottles, walk so you don't have carry them, get large enough so you don't have lug around that damn car seat, not wear diapers, wipe its own arse, etc.

I imagine they do shorten your life, but they make it worth living.
