It's sad how we lost the ability to own things, music for example instead now people are trained to have long term relationship with a streaming service....the don't own anything they just consume and pay and consume and pay. frick streaming....

Maybe you should just take the car back to the dealer and ask them to swap it out for one that is compatible with your iPod.

Go to Circuit City and buy an adapter to play over the radio waves.

I gotta admit, it takes a Boomer, like me, to understand your point. I have a similar issue as Commandeaux. I’ve been purchasing/downloading music from Apple since iPods came out. Wife and I have purchased hundreds (maybe a thousand) songs over the years. Apple rep told my wife it’d cost us about $100 to recover all the music we’ve purchased because our old “iPods” were outdated. Prob is, one would think that Apple should know what we’ve purchased and we should be able to just download it again. Wrong. They stated their system changes over the years prevented them from being able to do this and we were out of luck.

If your old iPods still work, it’s easy and free to pull all the music off of them and onto a computer.

Get one of the disc man adapters that you put in the tape deck. Just make sure anti-skip is turned on.

I’m guessing the iPod and its probably not working via USB because you’re running a really old version of iOS that’s no longer supported and isn’t compatible with the media player software in the new car. Not sure why bluetooth wouldn’t work though and just let you control the song from the iPod.
Just download the Apple Music app from the Google Play store. If your car supports CarPlay and Android Auto, then you shouldn’t have an issue connecting via USB and using Apple Music app off your phone with Android Auto

Unfortunately they don’t. Rather, the charging cables are all, either gone or torn too badly. None of the players will work without being plugged in.
They said our issue is that fact that the original email was a cable company email. Once we moved to another city, no more old cable company, no more email. Apple will NOT let us change the email. Said it was part of our “User name”. If we could access the old email, we could set up a download of all the songs purchased. Don’t ask me why they said that. But they did.
