Wtf does that have to do with patriotism?

Patriotism is overrated. Our country is a half step from communism. What is left to be proud of?

The ideas it was founded on are still good. Be loyal to that.

What frustrates me is that Obama said he had the right to protest, but he sure didn't mention the Protest at work thing.

That man could have done so much to help this country and instead he chose to play politics for 8 years.

She is there for the GI Bill/benefits. Nothing more nothing less.

And, yet, someone will blindly thank her for her service.....

A lot of guys serving in Vietnam were drafted and didn't want to be there but if the option was jail or being a fugitive in Canada most guys served. I'm willing to bet a lot of Vietnam vets feel or felt the way she does. My dad and lots of men of his generation who are Vietnam Era vets served and never felt the need to be super patriotic and broadcast their veteran status. Hell, I don't think my dad ever flew the American flag ever or even had any piece of patriotic clothing and he has Vietnam Veteran on his grave marker. We have a volunteer, professional army. People join for professional reasons mostly and not to be Mr or Ms Red, White, and Blue.

My daddy was drafted into the Marines and while he hated getting the draft, he is the most patriotic man I know. At 73 he says he fought once and will fight again for his country if needed.

Let's don't kid ourselves. A huge portion of kids are not joining due to patriotism.

-lack of options, be it grades, social status, location... it's a way out, and recruiters can be effective
-citizenship. Have you been near a post lately, and counted the number "Z's" on those uniforms?
-social justice. Reps are on the hunt for minority candidates for the academies, and it shows. These kids are given very favorable status just to try to correct numbers, and it shows.

Sad part is no one needed any Americans to go to Viet Nam in the first place which is why people from that generation tend to have severe distrust of the govt

Sonce I am in San Diego for a bit I've been forced to live like a local and do things like go to Starbucks when I want a coffee. Definitely not my first choice, but it is what it is.

Is starbucks the trendy local coffee joint in San Diego?

I'm only here for a few weeks so I don't know of better options. Starbucks is the only option I've seen. Being the West Coast I imagine it's the popular choice. According to another poster there are plenty of choices, I'd love to know what they are.

When I asked about it, she looked at me with the most attitude she could, and said "Why would I wear the flag I don't respect?"

That sounds like the kind of person who I would not want to rely on in battle.

I bet she is still taking that paycheck and other benefits.

They whole kneeling for anthem and flag crap started under Obama. Instead of providing any hope “somehow” blacks mistrusted and hated the US even more towards the end of his 8 years, and now it’s woke whiteys with even more hate.

After saying he (Obama) wouldn’t play race card the race card got played continuously. To also stir the flames They also withheld info on hands up don’t shoot lie for as long as they could and Pushed off Sterling’s report until out of office. Anyone who disagreed with him was racist which served as nice cover to any criticism and a distraction to many things. Blacks continued to suffer if not get worse as a group until improving under Trump up until Wuhan and of the summer of victimhood as Obama just used his half black genes when needing to deflect criticism or get into Columbia and Harvard Law. He also used leftists on top of being first black mainstream candidate who was “articulate and bright and clean and a nice- looking guy” to beat Hillary in 2008 for nomination. Even liberal press played as post racial presidency until race card was needed, and then playing race card never stopped. After treatment of Bush and even of Clinton while still supporting and even trying to label disagreement as racism back then I also hope the blacks would see criticism is part of politics, but Political gain had to come before post racial and giving blacks hope. Democrats need blacks where they are too much.

Also Kap only started this when he started dating a Muslim who also dated the lb/de (i can’t remember name at moment) before or at start of his downfall and multiple suspensions from the league.
