It should have been canceled for lack of viewers.
I am sure his contract didn't allow them to up and cancel his show.
Like how Colbert's show on CBS ends in May.. I don't know when Kimmel's contract is up, but if they had a reason to fire him.. Then that probably saves them money and fill in his space with content that cost less than he does.

Pelicans flair once again is the best possible indicator of complete dumbasses

The nuance, the nuance. You’re not fooling anybody.

I don’t know a single real human who wasn’t horrified by what happened to Kirk. The only people I’ve seen cheering are anonymous bot accounts or people who are too terminally online to be functional members of society, which is an issue here as well. Talk to normal people sometime, and stop pretending like this is all a big game of checkers.
What a bunch of horse shite.
Everything from pilots to teachers (a bunch of them), to doctors, nurses, veterinarians, restaurant owners and workers, bankers, comic book artists......the list goes on and on have all had the mind numbingly stupid compulsion to go onto their public social media accounts and act shitty in the wake of a public political assassination.
The fact that these complete and total fricking morons are so mentally polluted that they WILLFULLY sacrifice their own fricking wellbeing and livelihoods to act like complete and total asses is proof enough that they aren't stable people. Never mind the inflammatory nature of what they are saying and when they are saying it.
Welcome to accountability. You will find out really quickly what you are actually worth to your employer if you insist on taking their lead.
Just don't be shitty and it will all work out for you.

That bundle of sticks finally stepped in it one too many times. What a piece of shite
He made "jokes" about denying people dying of covid medical care and nothing happened to him, which is just insane.
At any other point in history nobody with a big stage would have such a joke been made or been tolerated.
Somehow over the last 10 years late night tv went from generally light hearted fluff comedy to complete hate fueled political screeds.

Anyone that believes this or the CBS firing Colbert of had anything to do with politics is a fool
It was convenient cover for two shows that were very expensive to produce and tanking in the ratings. Even moreso in the target Demographic. Too many shows far cheaper to produce could give them those numbers.
For Kimmel on ABC, ratings in the 18-49 demographic fell 24% in Q1 2025 from Q4 2024, the worst decline among late-night peers, with total viewers down about 13% year-over-year by Q2 2025 and an 11% drop to 1.1 million monthly average by August 2025. Colbert on CBS lead in total viewers at 2.8 million monthly in August 2025, but its 18-49 demo dropped 17% in Q1 2025 and has fallen 32% over five years, with a 6% monthly decline from July.
Production costs were also high: Colbert's show ran over $100 million annually, losing $40-50 million yearly due to falling ad revenue, while Kimmel's is estimated at $80-100 million per year, driven by salaries like Kimmel's $15 million and a large staff.
If these shows were profitable, ABC and CBS would not care what they said.

Idk man, pretty innocuous for a comedy’s show. Don’t like the precedent and chilling effect this will create. The state, through the FCC, pressuring a company to silence someone is antithetical to American ideals of liberty.
We should have never had such blatant lies on public broadcasting.
This is a long overdue reconciliation. It’s not violent, it’s not hateful, and while it might be spiteful he got what he deserved - for the public to get a better character at night.

Can we get back to late night tv being for entertainment and not for biased political commentary

That ship has sailed, we all have screens in our pockets with algorithms catered for our brain rot consumption that will not be replaced any time soon.

The issue here is the FCC putting pressure on stations to shut him down because the President didn’t like what he said. That’s the part a lot of people are uncomfortable with. Does Trump start shutting down news agencies that are critical of him? What happens to Fox News when a Democrat is in the White House?
Did you completely sleep through when they were IRS auditing people they disagreed with? Or when Biden was going after all FFLs using the powers of the ATF to justify putting people out of business for basic clerical errors? I don't the think the FCC should be used for personal bias. Jimmy is also lying like a rug.

Kirk, who temporarily changed his social media profile picture to an image of Cartman, told Fox News in July, “I’m excited to watch it because, look, we as conservatives need to be able to take a joke, right?”
“We shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously,” he said at the time.
1st amendment and all with FCC chair threatening Disney/ABC.
I mean if the Left is going to label Kirk as an "extremist", assassinate him, and then openly celebrate it, don't be surprised when real extremists and real authoritarians fill the gap.
That's how it usually happens.
