Plus you get a lot of food. My 2 kids will share an adult meal and be full. There's times me and my wife share a meal as well, especially if we are eating a few snacks throughout the day.

Which is why one must keep an unwavering eye on their kids there. It's full of pedos.

Same here. It's not good sci fi.

But people like it.

They'll also give you extra meals for some reason. I guess they though my kid would eat it.

Frankly my kid couldn't care less about eating and wants to go play.

Yup...I got a friend who will 100% be doing this. He's a fricking teacher and coach and him and his gf take a Disney trip every year...matching themed ears on every day and everything. I can't imagine how much debt he's in doing this and it really just weirds me the frick out

True. The Disney obsession is so odd to me. I'm sure it's nice, I went once years ago, but everything is billionaire expensive there now. I bet a family of 5 eating lunch in one of the parks is $150.

I went there on a school trip in 9th grade. I caught food poisoning from a bad hamburger in the Hattiesburg bus station and puked in a trashbag all night, arriving in Orlando as the sun came up. Disneyworld was alright I guess but the prelims took some of the luster off for me. Not someplace I care about seeing again.

I would say 5 grownups is probably 60ish bucks.

Not even close... the average counter service would run nearly 20 per person at least..

People literally spend tens of thousands of dollars
----At Disney World? I've been several times and have not been close to spending that much coin.

If you are that worried about food costs Disney will allow you to pack your own lunch.

We did that in 1996 when we went for 3 days. Of course, we were in our motorhome that was parked at Fort Wilderness, so that made it easy. I remember thinking that $2 for a 20 oz Coke was a ripoff. We did get pastries one night a the French bakery in Epcot. That's the only food I remember buying.

My mother just didn't want to pay Disney prices if she didn't have to. After all, she had to pay for gas for the 7.5mpg motorhome.

I like Disney and our family goes a good bit but there is no way I would pay that much for me to be in Star Wars.

This isn't that hard guys. All the information you need is at the tip of your fingers.

Take Cosmic Rays in Magic Kingdom, the cheapest adult meal is a $9 greek salad, the most expensive is $13.49 which is a chili cheese hot dog.

Electric Umbrella in Epcot, $8.99 "energy salad" and $13.49 "Mojo Pulled Pork burger."

Backlot Express in Hollywood Studios, $8.99 salad and $13.99 backlot burger.

Like I said, $10-12 per meal for an adult.

Water is free (from fountain drink dispenser, not bottle) and better for you anyway.

These are Star Wars people. Disney is the pass-through.

Just as weird, though.

None of this is for a family of 4. Not to mention a Disney trip can EASILY be done for less than any of these amounts.

Like I said, people have no clue what they're doing. Disney is expensive if you're an idiot. Not so much if you're just minimally resourceful.

WRAPPING UP 2021
As we reach the end of the year, this post will focus on 2022 visits for a few months before shifting to 2022 / 2023. Since some of you are still looking at 2021, here’s how the baseline vacation differs from 2022, which the rest of the post focuses on:

2021 5 Nights Pop Century — $1202 (vs. $1228 2022)

2021 5 Day Base Tickets — $1914 (vs. $1988 2022)

2021 2 Days Genie+ — $128 (unchanged)

2021 MCO-Disney Transportation — $0 (vs. $200 in 2022)

Assume flights and dining increase 3% — $2123 (vs. $2187 2022)

Total Base Trip — $5367 (vs. $5731 2022, +7%)

quote:

Our baseline Disney World vacation for a family of four (two adults, one child 10+, one child 3-9) costs $5,731 ($287 per person per night) in 2022. This includes flights, transportation to and from Disney World, a five-night stay at Pop Century, five day tickets without park hopper, Genie+ at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, and meals at roughly the cost of the old standard Disney dining plan, which is not available for booking as of this update.
