The 10 other Disney threads got me to thinking about how we've been talking about planning our vacations this year.

The wife wants to go to bring our 11 year old son to Disney for our Fall vacation.

I'm not a Disney hater but I truly have no desire to go there. All i hear about is how expensive everything is and how it's too crowded.

Anyone care to give the pros/cons of going there?

How can you put a price on being in the happiest place on earth?

Is he still in the closet or full blown gay? Your answer determines his level of enjoyment at that vacation plan.

Same here, but I still feel like I'm imposing even though they've asked us to stay with them.

My wife and daughter have stayed with them before during cheer competitions there.

For some people, yes. For others, no.

It absolutely is.... But its the only place you can go to experience everything that's there.

I wouldn't go every year but its something people should do 2-3 times in their lifetime.

If your son has never been before, take him. Consult a Disney Crowd Calendar before booking your trip. Also, use a Disney travel agent to set everything up for you. Their services are free, and they'll book your room, tickets, and set up your fast passes.

Pros - You're in Disney with your family
Cons - expensive and can be crowded. I can't repeat it enough times; use a crowd calendar and go during the slow period.

This is the kind of detailed and decisive analysis that people flock to the OT to see.

Fall vacation

I can’t imagine anything worse than dragging little kids around Disney in the middle of summer.

However, your son is old enough to take care of himself. Going in the Fall has to be better than the summer. Not nearly as crowded or as hot.

He's been once for 3 days during his sister's cheer competitions but then it was pretty much all about her.

If you have children, yes it is worth it.

If you have a grown adult wife who loves Disney, probably worth it.

If you're a single man who likes wearing Mickey Ears and slobbering overpriced ice cream, well fatso...this is the vacation for you.

Pro, you have an 11 year old son who apparently would like to go, suck it the frick up and take your child for a memory that will last forever.

In reality, probably should have taken him a few years ago for the full experience...

Out of all the vacations you can take for the price of going to Disney, going to Disney would be about the last on my list. Also, at 11 I would have not wanted to go, but maybe your son still likes that stuff.

That’s the honest answer when people ask for objective answers to subjective questions.

I went recently and i enjoyed it. The lines are really aggravating though.

For me it's not a vacation i'd do every year or even every 5 years. I much prefer anything outdoors (skiing, camping, canoeing, beach), or traveling to another country over Disney.

But Disney has it's place.

We went this past May. The only way I go to Disney again is if I'm on the monorail. I'm not doing the bus shenanigans again.

The Monorail is basically broken down and there is only a handful of resorts which utilize it. Polynesian and Grand Floridian are the two I would recommend.

We stayed in Key West Resort last time. It was a condo feel and I didn't care for it.

No, he has a wife that apparently wants him to go. I would definitely ask the kid if he actually wants to go before I booked an overpriced over crowded vacation.
