Stocks down 4% since this was announced. We'll see how it works out for them. They also just paid around $2.5B for an MLB streaming service and ESPN's numbers were way down again.

Their strategy seems to be spend themselves out of bad situations, but hasn't worked so far. Their lib president is going to run for President in 2020 so I guess he's trying to prime himself for government.

But this is Disney, so it will probably cost closer to 79.99/month.

Wait, does Disney own the Marvel movies?

I think they do. Damn.

And they have drastically improved the Disney Jr App recently. Much more smooth and fast transitioning between shows and live. And it doesn't seem to have issues staying logged in on my fire stick like in the past. Probably ramping that up to transition to stand alone service. The Disney app might be as well, but I'd have to ask my daughter about that as she's the one that watches it, I only turn Disney Jr on for my son. Used to be so frustrating that I just would go with Netflix.

That's what I was thinking. The world capitalist comes to mind before the word commie.

They could call it "transtv" because that's the agenda they're gonna push

Hope none of you baws have Netflix stock

I think NetFlix will be ok longterm though. I'd say I watch NetFlix as much or more than I watch "regular" TV using PlayStation Vue, and most of the time it's NetFlix originals. I do think losing the ABC reruns would be a bit of a blow, but it wouldn't stop me from subscribing to NetFlix.

Sounds like it will be new content only. A movie like Moana probably has a contract to be shown on Netflix for a few years.

We're about 2 years away from completely replacing our 125 buck cable or satellite bills with 20 separate streaming accounts at 9 bucks each.

Yeah. I'll admit I was a big fan of the a la carte idea but this is definitely the path we're headed down

It won't affect Marvel, from what I've read.

It might not in the beginning, but it most certainly will in the long run.

I'm not signing up for a Disney streaming service

Perhaps it's not a 1 price fits all type of service. I predict them to be more like Amazon Prime. Paid members may have unlimited access while others can download the app for free and pay per episode/movie/etc.

Your kid likes a certain show, buy the season for $35.

You're looking for a family movie night? Rent it in HD for $5.99

Better up your home data allowance.

Yeah and none of these contracts will be renewed. It will all slowly disappear.

ESPN is the only reason I am staying with cable service.

As soon as ESPN goes full streaming, I'm gone.

***Edit: Live Sports is the only reason I'm keeping cable.

Of course, but they're not removing all of it immediately. The service is still 1.5 years out and much of their current content is already under contract with Netflix.

It's a big announcement, but Netflix is down less than 3% on the news.
