One good thing is that the parks close pretty early and I won’t be there but 5-8 hours. I think Epcot stays open the latest. Maybe 8:00 or 9:00pm. Most close at 6:00pm. I guess I’ll see how it goes. Might be better than I am anticipating.

Wait times are 20 minutes or less everytime i have checked. Not a bad time to go
A childhood friend manages a restaurant in Animal Kingdom. He hasn't seen a wait time over 10 minutes at any ride there since they reopened.

Pretty draconian to say I can’t walk and drink or walk and snack.
You think that is draconian? Wow, we are a spoiled weak bunch if that is considered draconian.

What if the mask blows off when riding the ride?
FYI, Wild Eagle and Mystery Mine go upside down, Lightning Rod hauls arse the entire time, and Thunderhead is a rough wooden coaster that hauls arse. Nobody's mask is going to come off. I promise you that those rides are 3x more intense than anything you'll ride at Disney.

quote:You must have had it barely dangling on your face. As I just mentioned, I rode rides that are 3 times more intense than the Hagrid ride. I rode rides that you are making huge vertical drops and upside down loops, etc. Lightning Rod goes as fast as Hagrid but with huge drops and intense twists and turns the entire time. Nobody's mask off not once.
rode the new hagrid or whatever it's called roller coaster. My mask came off. As we were pulling back in I was attacked by nazi staff about not having it on. I basically said sorry, it's a roller coaster.

Not even for Flight of Passage?

I deleted my app. What is it showing for Frozen at Epcot?

ALL the lines are short. Studios sometimes gets up to 40 minutes for the new stuff, but by end of day, short again. When we were there right after opening, walk on for everything but Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom. Splash was maybe 20 minutes. Thunder Mountain we re-rode a few times in a row since it was walk on.
It was not "pre planned", but I do admit using the loophole once at Disney Springs. We had gotten a snack from a food place and sat at a table. The food place only had fountain drinks, so I scouted around for bottled. When I found it, I was already miserable in the mask (disposable medical variety that day), opened the coke and pulled down the mask. I wasn't just "holding" it, but play acted by having the bottle at my mouth sipping SLOWLY all the way back to the table.
For park days, I had a home made mask that was of a very breathable and light material. That wasn't terrible, and since the lines were so short, didn't feel like we were "wasting" time grabbing a coke and sitting down every so often.
It truly is a wonderful time to visit. But honestly, the people going ARE the ones that hate masks and aren't scared of catching a cold. The vast majority of people they are making happy (the maskers) are the same ones saying they are too scared to go, or that the parks should stay closed until next year.

Looks to be closed. Probably for cleaning. They're cleaning ride vehicles every two hours.

Also, I feel like the Vinn Diagram of people who are going to Disney right now and people who are opposed to masks is more or less a single circle. Zero doubt in my mind that a handful of people were just carrying something in their hands so they could lower/remove the mask. And I’m sure that handful grew until they ruined it for the rest of the park goers.
People are pretty good copycats. If they see an advantage or loophole that looks beneficial to them, they will mimic it quickly.
Someone mentioned the characters earlier. Does anyone know if the characters are wearing faux masks over their costumes to let the kids know they are practicing safety as well as everyone else, or do they get a bye because they are magical?

No masks on characters or princesses, or anyone performing in mini parades.
Posted on 7/22/20 at 12:00 pm to tonydtigr
None of the characters at Universal, Disney, Busch Gardens were wearing masks last week. People were able to take pics with them but had to stand 6 feet or more in front of the characters. We were allowed to take masks off on all water rides.

Can I still wear a skirt as a mask and eat around the loop hole?

I know Universal and Busch Gardens were allowing this, but Disney too? They weren't when we were there, or at least weren't indicating that it was okay, so everyone kept them on.

We will never experience theme parks again like we did last week. Like I said, we were definitely spoiled. We were saying to each other all week how we could never wait in a line again, lol.

We were allowed to take off masks on Jurassic Park.
