No one is saying NO is without flaws. But it has been one of the most interesting cities in this nation for hundreds of years.
Yet you would trade that for going to eat at Chili’s whenever you want. Believe me, I understand your priorities.

Ok.

Every major oil company had offices in Shreveport and at one time there were more independent oil and gas companies in Shreveport than any place in the world. The Louisiana Hayride rivaled the Grand Ole Opry. There is a lot of truth to what your were told.

I’m sure you cannot. It’s only known as one of the most unique cities in the world with a history of culture, food, and music that isn’t seen anywhere else.
But by all means prefer your Anytown USA vibe.

yes, Orlando is "Anytown USA." You sound ridiculous.

"It used to be" isn't a good argument for what it is currently.

Disney dodged a huge bullet by avoiding that area.

The fact is that none of the stories about New Orleans or the Northshore being considered for Disney World is true.

Despite what the Times-Picayune or NOLA.com has reported, these stories are nothing more than speculation and gossip.

The truth lies with a gentleman named Buzz Price, Walt’s economist, and the primary reason Disney exists today.

Every city has flaws, Not every city has comically inept Mayors, Police Chiefs and DAs who constantly embarrass themselves after a crisis...that is when said Mayor isn't off yet again fleecing the taxpayers to fund her travel to another "conference."

To anyone that thinks that "New Orleans can't do any worse that what they have now"...that MENSA collective voting populace will take that as a personal challenge. Get ready for Mayor Oliver Thomas.

Your factual analysis is as bad as your troll attempts. At least you're multi faceted, so congrats on that.

It was true.

The area is where Walt first came across animatronic figures, and also saw the French Quarter. When he dropped the park idea, he instead added the first construction project to Disneyland. New Orleans Square. Construction began in 1961
quote:

In 1959, Walt Disney Productions began looking for land to house a second resort to supplement Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which had opened in 1955. Market surveys at the time revealed that only 5% of Disneyland's visitors came from east of the Mississippi River, where 75% of the population of the United States lived.

It wasnt until 1964 when the Orlando area became the target of Walts land purchases. Had Nawlins not been a corruption magnet, that park would have been built here
quote:

Walt Disney took a flight over a potential site in Orlando, Florida—one of many—in November 1963. After witnessing the well-developed network of roads and taking the planned construction of both Interstate 4 and Florida's Turnpike into account, Disney selected a centrally located site near Bay Lake. The development was referred to in-house as "The Florida Project"

Never heard the Shreveport story before.
I have always heard around Opelousas.

They set up many shell companies and negotiated all those land deals and were finished and announced it by 1966. Walt died in 1966. They had found the area they wanted based on infrastructure, location and weather all being conducive to their ideas in South Florida.

It wouldn’t have lasted in the New Orleans area. Too many dumb people in the labor pool, including back then.

Orlando was appealing because it could support the park year round and has two north south highways nearby (I-75 and I-95)

Maybe, I 75 was completed years after Disney was built though.

I guess maybe they had the stretch through Orlando already finished. Idk.

And coming out of New Orleans you have i10 and i59 on one side and i10 and i55 coming out the other.

Was this the official reasoning or did you just make it up?

Why do people act like Nola isn’t full of chain restaurants? It is.

And even a restaurant like walkons is a chain. Let’s not forget the million fricking burger kings there also.

When I was living there a hot new place was Dave and busters. So you have a walk ons and Dave and busters. Just like Atlanta.

Exactly. It would be a nightmare. It’s bad enough now.

I imagine Nola was great at one time. And could be again. Just imagine if the FQ had a clean and safe downtown Disney vibe that was welcoming to families. Local shops, eateries, etc. mixed in with the likes of Mr B’s and Galatoires. Not the filth and danger it is now. Imagine a nice and clean Canal St. Like it once was.

There was a lot more at play, legitimately than all that. Transportation infrastructure for starters. Like you said 75/95 but also serviceable airports in the area. Tampa was expanding, Orlando was getting off the ground. The land was better overall.

I was always told by old politicos in LA that Disney in Louisiana was an urban myth.

Ah, of course you’re right. NO really is nothing but chain restaurants. Can’t beat that gumbo at Dave &Busters
