Discussion About Local Police Departments & The Lack Of Resources

Did anyone watch the documentary series on Showtime Outcry? (if not and you plan on watching there could be some spoilers in here so read at your own risk) The last of 5 episodes played last night, but if you haven't watched it, its about this guy who was in HS at the time and a 4 year old claimed that he stuck is penis in his (kid) mouth.
This happened in a smaller community in Texas. The detective pretty much had it in his mind that the teenager did it, and manipulated the investigation by doing things to strengthen his case while ignoring other possibilities that some of the evidence lead to.
The HS kid ends up getting 25 yrs, but a lawyer who specializes in those type of cases was able to present enough evidence which showed there was a good chance he didn't do it and that there were two other suspects who should have been interviewed.
There was some other "small town" bullshite that took place as well that completely went against this kid.
I am not going to say what happens just to not spoil it, but it did make me think.
How often does this type of stuff happen? The wrong person gets convicted all because the investigator lacks training/resources and has it in their mind that a certain person did it and instead of looking more into it, they work towards making sure the case is strong.
And if you were suddenly accused of something that happened in the city, town, jurisdiction where you live, would you trust the investigators to get it right?

A) Public wants cases closed, period.
B) Cops want cases closed, period.
C) DA/Prosecutor wants cases closed, period.
D) Victims/survivors/families want cases closed, period.
About the only ones concerned about "Appropriate" case closures are the innocents being railroaded.

Showtime is a liberal hack. The bias is STRONG with them. One look no further than their many shows attacking President Trump, one of which is to air right before the election, you know, to make sure they drive their point home and influence voters and the like. They are FAR FAR FAR from unbiased, and present NO other side to the argument from their bully pulpit. Similar to the “Manipulation of the investigation” that the “detective down in Texas” was shown to be guilty of in the Showtime documentary, Showtime is very effective in manipulating this election, and they’re unashamed in doing so.
I’d be VERY cautious in taking much of what Showtime has to say with much credibility as being an honest look at anything. They have agendas, and they don’t care that you know it either.

The county had plenty of resources. What the kid didn't have is money for a good defense or DA's worth a shite. Whole thing was a sham.

It definitely happens more than you would think. Investigators are human and feel the effects of confirmation bias (I think that's what it's called. Maybe thinking of another term) l. Basically, once an investigator thinks he has an answer as to what happened they will subconsciously gather evidence that points to their conclusion while ignoring contradictory evidence.
They really have to be self aware and not fall victim to this. Good detectives can work around it and do a good job. A bad detective isn't necessarily trying to screw over anyone either. They just fail to recognize their own bias.

The frick it doesn't have anything to do with their political alignment. It has everything to do with it. They paint with the colors in their palette, and no other colors are allowed. You get SHOWTIME’S version and opinion on the matter, and that’s it. There’s nothing honest about it. It is agenda driven, as is all of their programming.
