Not really in a position to change providers at the moment so save your “Cut the cord” comments.

Anyways, I recorded a series I wanted to watch. I was an episode or two in when a random ad popped up. I tried fast forwarding through it but it said fast forwarding and rewinding are disabled during ads.... but it’s playing the same 3 ads over and over. I seem to be stuck in a never ending series of commercials and I can’t finish this episode. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Have not experienced this, but if they are starting to put unskipable ads in DVR’d shows, thus eliminating the main reason I DVR, you can add me to the list of people that will be cutting the cord with a quickness.

Go to the App Store on your phone, assuming you have an iPhone, and download the app for whatever channel that show plays on and you can watch any episode. There will be commercials but it’s only 30 seconds.

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

You recorded from on demand. Any local network shows on demand will have short commercials. No way you recorded a show not from on demand and it has ads.

Source: I have direct tv and have never experienced this.

It sounds like you hit the “start from the beginning” button. If you are channeling surfing and find something you want to watch but it’s already 3/4’s over you have the option on some channels to “start from the beginning” and yes...fast forwarding is disabled in that mode.

Has never happened to me unless I did what the two posters above said, watched from on demand or chose the option to start from beginning.

Sounds like no so smoothoperator error.

Never happened to me.

Best moment of the month was yesterday when I dropped all my direct tv boxes off at the ups store.

frick em.

Went from $69 a month to $129 a month for pretty much basic cable.

Back to cox. Only thing I don’t like is the mini boxes. Probably gonna have to get 4 contour boxes.

Contradicting yourself buddy.

You have internet. Cut the fricking DTV. There are other options that are cheaper and ad free.

this same shite happened to me a week or so ago

the episode, as others have said, was downloaded from on demand instead of recorded from live tv

the commercial thing was a glitch though, it kept repeating the commercial and the timer would not advance, i eventually paused, rewinded, or something and it would go back to the show, but it was acting really wonky

I've seen this with on demand DTV stuff but nothing else.

If they're doing that to normal programs, they'll lose a lot of subscribers.
