Digitization of everything and democratization of information has fed corp optimization

And by corporate optimization I mean wringing every penny out of consumers as possible.
It wasn't very long ago that market research for both large corporations and small individual businesses/service providers took many months or quarters to assess consumer spending and behaviors. And then price increases had to be tip toed into and then again many months of assessment and data gathering.
Today this data is being fed back by instantly in a massive stream. Decisions are made at lighting speed, price increases are introduced with much more confidence and across all industries and even amongst competitors in the same industry resulting in a "strength in numbers" approach to exert more control over the consumer.
This is not a good trend for society.

This is all done by AI.
Which is taking jobs from humans.
The savings are not being passed on to you.
People need to stop using AI.

I’m not sure information accessibility and decision speed are the culprit here. People just don’t react to price increases with less consumption.
Streaming services for example, every single one charges double what they charged when they started up. And every single one has more subscribers, not fewer.

I have a hunch that AI will be used to absolutely rape people on flights, rental cars, and hotels for last minute/emergency type of trips

I’m pretty sure that’s already happening. Didn’t some delta corporate stooge say something to the effect of reviewing your emails to determine that whether or not you really needed the flight and then prices your flight accordingly? Or maybe they just plan to do that in the future.
Uber already charges you based on your method of payment. Amex platinum users pay more than visa debit card users.

Amazon knows you are more likely to buy an item that is “on sale” so they’ll show you item X at 19.99 and tell you that it is 30% off its normal 28.99 price.
If you create a fresh account it will show the same item as 19.99 with no mention that it’s on sale.
Guess what all those fancy digital price “stickers” popping up at target and whole foods are for?
Let’s not even get into the notion that sooner than you think, the shows and movies you see on your favorite streaming platform will be autogenerated by AI with little to no human contribution based on what you like. You’ll see a new movie on Netflix that’s tailored specifically to you and won’t be available on anyone else’s account.

With things you need, sure. I get it.
But also lumped into your argument are idiots like me who buy a new smartphone every two years. When I started doing this, it cost me net like $200. Now? I’m buying a $1200 phone and getting $600 for me “old one”.
Lots of people do this with lots of different products that aren’t actual “needs”.

TL:DW: Grocery stores and apps are using your data to scam you and extract higher prices from you.

The damn Fresh Market by my house has cameras on the shelves seeing what you pick and how long it takes you to make a decision.
