True, but those schools exist in every state. I'm talking about as a whole, Louisiana public education is so far behind, its unbelievable.

I'm just trying to provide some insight as someone who has experience in public schools in Louisiana and elsewhere.

We all know that LA public schools as a whole suck. That wasn't being challenged.

Ok, the top public schools in the state might be comparable to others in the nation, but the top districts in the state are in no way comparable to top districts across the nation.

This we can agree on.

So basically there are no decent school districts in Louisiana. I would be hesitant to send my kids to St. Charles Parish Public Schools. And most in the Army avoid Fort Polk precisely because of the shitty schools in Vernon at number 3.

As a district, perhaps. Not one school placed in the top 5 in the state. Top five were two in NOLA, two in JP and LSMAS in Natchitoches.

School rankings methodology seems flawed to me. I think a better method would be to use the performance of the top 5% of students, and the performance of the median 5-10 students. That way it would show the potential of your kid if he/she is smart and hardworking, and show the potential of the average kid. I think many public school's ranking are skewed downward due to the performance of kids who just don't care (versus private schools).
