The fact that my home school district made the list makes me worry for public education in LA even more.

I'm banking on the wife's genes for that. They have Harvard, Hampton Sydney, Davidson, William & Mary, UVA and UVA law grads on that side. Not to mention ancestors that established Dartmouth.

I know they are good. I know nothing about getting future non existing kids into them.
I figure if it was so easy, every one would do it. But there appears to be a lot of private schools about ya know?
If you were to grade/quantify a kid's intelligence on what they would get on the ACT, what would a minimum ACT score be for a kid to get into those two? That's something I can understand.

Used to only Franklin as an option. Both are ranked in the top 5 in the state now.

As if making a Louisiana public school top 10 list means anything. Being the best in a state known for its terrible education isn't exactly something to be proud of.

I'd imagine the top public schools in LA are very much comparable to public schools you'll find across the nation.
Its the real shite hole ones that drag the numbers down. Like the MS Delta schools in MS.

As someone who attended high school in Louisiana and another state I don't agree with this at all.

No clue. But they are both really good schools. Lusher has hurt some of the Uptown privates, for sure.

Zachary...a handful of schools. They'll be #1 as long as EBR tanks and white flight continues. Zachary people can hate me for saying such all they want, but it's unfair (forget this silly poll) to stack them up against Caddo, Ouachita, Lafayette areas, EBR, etc. They have 1 high school, a junior high or 2, and 3-4 elementary schools.

For real public schools, like living in a district you are correct. Ben Franklin has been ranked as one of the best in the country for a very long time. Of course, it is a test in and is very difficult to get accepted.
