Ours was wall to wall harvest gold shag, harvest gold sheet vinyl in kitchen, breakfast, laundry, etc, harvest gold laminate countertop, and harvest gold wall paper everywhere. The next door neighbors had avocado green everything, and down the street was burnt orange everything.

I’ll never forget when we moved in. It was just built and I thought we had struck gold. I couldn’t believe how fortunate I was coming from where we lived previously with wood floors throughout and having to hop over the old floor furnace in the middle of the hall and a single window unit. Turns out we’d revert back to wood floors everywhere, but when we moved in to an all shag carpeted house I couldn’t believe how cool we were.

That cool lasted right up until I realized you had to rake shag carpet before and after vacuuming, and if company was coming over, you couldn’t walk on the carpet after you raked it until company arrived.

We had this thin lime carpeting throughout the first level with wood paneling in the living room, wallpaper in the dining room, and wallpaper that was from somewhere between the 50s and 70s in the kitchen (with false ceilings.) I almost had one of those cork walls in the early-mid 80s but my parents separated before that happened. Then spent the next 9 years living in a plain white apartment without central air.

I grew up in a house built in the 1900’s.
It had cold wood flooring, no carpeting, no paneling. I legit thought my family was poor. My friends lived in the newer subdivisions with all that green and gold new shite and I was so jealous.

The carpet in our den is gone but the wood paneling is still here, just painted over. That fire place looks about like ours but ours is gas.

House I grew up in had avocado green linoleum and brown shag carpeting. One bathroom had brown fixtures and one had yellow.

We had green shag carpet but no paneling. However, my mother had some Gawd awful wall paper in the kitchen…

Did y’all’s moms have the plastic rake to fluff up the shag?

We still have that in the kitchen. I like it and I'm not planning on removing it.

It's white and not this tall but kinda looks like this

Damn. We had light/medium brown paneling in the den and green carpet. Moved into the house in 1971, not sure when it was built. Mom still lives there today. Carpet and flooring has been replaced but wood panels still there.

When I was looking at a house to buy in 2008. I had a tour of a house that was straight out of type Scandinavian porno flick. A lot of wood paneling.. it reminded me of a chalet in the mountains. But the cherry was a sunken jacuzzi in the middle of the living room. This is/was in Metairie right across West Esplanade from Bucktown..

Not green but definitely had panels. Remember Mom putting Pledge on everything. I think those chemicals probably fricked me up more than the ones I was buying out on the streets.

We had some patterned carpet. I'm pretty sure I got splinters from rubbing my finger in the middle of the planks.
