Did you grow up in a house with AC? Did your first car have AC?

The answer for me to both questions is no. I lived in Georgia then as well. How in the hell did we survive? It’s hot as hell in the South right now. I know I’m old but I felt like I was melting just leaving the office and walking to my truck today.

My grandparents had window units by the time I came along but their house was built with a big arse fan in the ceiling of the hallway that kept air circulating throughout.

We did have one of these, seemed to suck all the dirt into the house but sure felt good..

House did. Car had the capability, but not the functionality. Last year of high school through college with no A/C in South LA. I only took girls out in the winter.

No, but I grew up in WI. When it got to the 90's we would all go sleep in the basement.

We had two window units...one in the front and one in the back of the house.
My first car, a Datsun 210 hatchback, had a air conditioner that blew coolish-warm air.

We had two window units. One in the den and one in the bedroom my brother and I shared, luckily. We only turned on the bedroom ac at night but the living room stayed on. Now, this was late 70’s early 80’s so don’t think these were the cheap pieces of crap made now. No, the one in the den was huge. Looked like a vw bug hanging out the house and when that compressor kicked on you could feel it resonate through the house.
I didn’t have car ac, bus ac, or school ac either.

We had a window unit in the den and one in my parents room. I kept my bedroom windows open and a box fan sitting on a chair across the room and that was the way it was all through school and college.

I grew up in the 70's and had never experienced a summer night without a/c until I spent the night at a friend's house in middle school. It was an old house. Even in my Grandmother's 100 yr old home she had window units and ceiling fans. During the dead of summer, it was torture and I didn't sleep a wink while being covered in sweat. I complained and was unaware that it was a function of money and what one is used to. I was a spoiled little shite who did not realize that I was very lucky until later on.
