Heck yeah we did.
Was a lot of fun.
Led to my baptism at age 12.
Most fun was at Mo-Ranch somewhere in Texas

That's definitely why my Dad didn't go to church.
My grandparents on Mom's side never went to church either as far as I can remember.

I been to a couple (including Camp Abbey). I was too young to appreciate adult, or even teenager partying, but from a little kid perspective it was pretty enjoyable.
The staff at both camps seemed to genuinely care about our well being AND very few of them were overly religious. If I remember right, we had a few masses per week and prayers before we ate and cringe-worth songs sung when we want out to the woods; I don't think they got out of hand with it. We mostly did summer-camp stuff (sports, crafts, camping, hiking, swimming); that's what we expected to do, and that's mostly what we did.
It's possible the older boys were sneaking out to the girls camps. If so, good on'm! Defying rituals, tradition and rules in favor of going after that arse is a time honored facet of the human experience. So long as there exists arse and rules hindering the pursuit of said arse, these rules will continually be broken. It's a sad destiny those rules have.

I did one year. It was over the summer and it was at my buddy's church. We were in about the 4th grade. All the guys went to sleep in one cabin and the girls went to sleep in another.
Well one night everybody was getting rowdy and cutting up, about 30 or so kids in one cabin. We are all telling jokes and my buddy jumps off the top bunk right in the middle of the floor and goes "Yall hold up listen!". Proceeds to squat and fart. Unfortunately for him nothing but diarrhea came out and went all down his legs.
I laughed about that for weeks.

Knights of Columbus camp was all boys. They'd rotate months between girls and boys so we were never near the opposite sex. Most religious thing was that they offered mass every morning if you wanted to go.
Rumors that the the few gay kids had a blast.
The rest of us just put guys' hands in bowls of water while they slept, or did the toothpaste in the hand and tickle the nose sleepover gag. Some smoking here and there, no booze, but then we were 8 to 12 year olds.

We were poor so the church camp wouldn't get near us. No money to donate, no seat at the camp table.
I do recall some kind of day camp one year. We made plastic wallets and beaded jewelry.
Come to think of it, that might have been one of those "scare the kids straight" police state parties.

Yep. Right after 8th grade and the pastors wife was also my former 5th grade teacher. I got in all kinds of trouble for going to the 4 letter dictionary quite often.
The biggest scandal I remember hearing about was a story from one of the guys who got this girl (who had transferred into the school the previous 2nd semester) knocked up. Supposedly since it was her 4th abortion she was told she couldn't keep having them. I'm sure in hindsight that it was probably inflated by 1 or 2. The "small world" thing was he ended up in Starkville for a masters degree shortly after I was done.
More important now but not so much then to me, I also remember listening to the '92 DNC convention on the radio after lights out.
